The Story Behind Spirit Release Academy (SRA)
The story of Spirit Release Academy (SRA) began in 2011 when Dr Terence Palmer, PhD, began working with Andy Porter and Andy’s spirit guide, Chen, to explore and develop Remote Spirit Release Therapy. Dr Palmer believed that a significant proportion of symptoms commonly associated with mental health difficulties could, in some cases, have an underlying spiritual component, and the research sought to explore this possibility through structured casework and observation.
Over the following ten years, the approach was developed and tested across more than 1,000 recipient cases. When the research had reached approximately 430 cases, Jonno Webster and his spirit guide, White Hawk, joined Andy, Chen, Dr Palmer and the wider research team, contributing to the continued development and expansion of the work.
Dr Palmer passed away in December 2021, but within SRA’s spiritual understanding, his connection with the work continues. He now works from spirit alongside Chen and White Hawk, contributing to the planning and direction of the Academy.
In November 2022, Andy Porter and Jonno Webster co founded Spirit Release Academy, taking the knowledge, research and practical experience developed over the previous decade and transforming it into a structured system for training practitioners to continue this work across the globe.
Together, Andy and Jonno bring more than 40 years of combined experience in spiritual and spirit release work, giving them an exceptional depth of practical knowledge and establishing them as experienced leaders in this field.
The approach developed into what SRA now teaches as Spirit Guided Remote Spirit Release (SGRSR), based around the distinct roles of the Facilitator, Medium and Spirit Guide.
SRA has since developed what it believes to be one of the most comprehensive and groundbreaking systems of teaching and mentorship in the field of spirit release, combining structured training, practical casework, assessment, ongoing mentorship and continued practitioner development.
Training is delivered both online and in person, allowing students from around the world to take part. SRA also provides in-person practitioner training in both the UK and the United States*, alongside its international online programmes.
Today, SRA has a growing practitioner base spanning all continents of the world, creating a truly international network of trained practitioners working with the SGRSR protocol.
In 2023, Natasha Parvin and Tara Abele joined Andy and Jonno as the SRA Management Team*. Natasha now heads up the operational area, working closely with Tara, while Andy and Jonno continue to lead the teaching, development and wider vision of the Academy.
As SRA grew, so did its wider team. Ruth Maxwell and Dave Morley, who began as students on SRA’s first UK in person practitioner course, progressed to become SRA Assessors. Ruth now also heads up the SRA UK Headquarters and administration.
In 2026, Gareth, Kathryn Miller and Nicole Thideman joined the assessment team, while Jane Morton joined as Student Liaison, maintaining a communication conduit between students, their Assessors and the Management Team if disagreements or concerns arise.
Olly Porter, Andy’s son, heads up SRA’s IT and technology, having built the Spirit Release Academy website and supporting the digital infrastructure behind the Academy.
What began as a research collaboration has grown into an international training Academy with practitioners across the world, a dedicated management team, Assessors, student support, administration, technology infrastructure and a growing global community.
At its heart, SRA exists to preserve and continue developing the work, maintain the integrity of the protocol, support its students and train practitioners who can carry the work forward into the future.
