I’m looking for a client that needs help with nervous system regulation and is interested in mediation for a small case study for program I’m in.

Here’s what’s required:
* 1 session each week to be provided online, for a total of 4 sessions.
* session length may vary from 30-60min.
* must be willing to create a complete undisturbed place for practice.
* Feedback form completed before and after each session.
* No meditation experience necessary

I’d really like this session to go to someone that doesn’t have the financial means for appointments but has been wanting to try something to help. These sessions are free as a case study participant.

Here’s what I’m looking for in the participant:
* difficulty relaxing
* racing mind, over active thoughts
* open to breathwork, guided visualization and meditation
* is reliable and dependable to complete the case study

Please reach out through DM if you are interested and feel as though you’d be a good fit for this case study.

There was a time I believed being “too emotional” was something to fix.

Too much. Too intense. Too sensitive. Too passionate. Too messy.

I believed emotions made me less wise, less stable, less spiritual.

I thought growth meant quieting myself. Silencing what I really felt. Staying composed no matter what moved through me. Being agreeable. Being easy to digest…. And then the trauma wounds. Keeping the peace. Making others more comfortable.

But over the years, life has taught me something deeper.

Much of that was conditioning and self-abandonment.

A world shaped by patriarchal values has long rewarded disconnection. It has praised restraint over truth, numbness over honesty, silence over expression. Especially in women.

We were taught that calm is superior to passion. That being unaffected is more evolved than being alive.

But what I know now is this:

Being spiritual is not abandoning your emotions.

Being enlightened is not bypassing your humanity.

Being healed is not becoming emotionally flat.

Sacred love still contains fire. Divine connection still holds intensity. Truth can arrive as grief, joy, tenderness, rage, devotion, longing.

Emotion is not the opposite of wisdom.

Emotion is energy carrying information.

Emotion is life moving through the body.

Emotion is often the voice of the soul refusing suppression.

The portal to the Divine is not found by escaping our humanness.

It is found through inhabiting it fully.

So no, I will not shrink my feelings to make others comfortable.

I will not silence what is honest within me.

I will not perform detachment to appear evolved.

There is liberation in allowing yourself to feel deeply.

There is power in embodied truth.

There is freedom in finally letting yourself be exactly as you are.

“Act as if you chose it.” No. 🛑 🚩 🚨

As a DV survivor, this is where certain spiritual concepts stop being enlightening and start being harmful.

I didn’t choose a partner who would try to kill me. I was manipulated. I was groomed. That choice was stolen from me. My childhood trauma? Also not chosen. Also not in my control.

Reframing reality as if you willed it into existence doesn’t create healing, it creates shame. And in dire circumstances, it doesn’t just miss the mark, it cultivates victim blaming.

Here’s what also gets lost: the universe is not centered around you as an individual. This idea was lifted from the Law of Attraction, which itself cherry-picked one law out of many. The universe is multifaceted. It’s responsive, but to everything and everyone, all at once. What you want is not the only force at play.

Spiritual growth shouldn’t require you to gaslight yourself.

Not all survival responses look like fighting or fleeing. Some are simply freezing and shutting down. None is more valid or important than another. It’s not meant to be judged good or bad. If you’re reading this, it did it’s job of keeping you alive in the best ways your system thought was possible.

But there is a silent piece behind these nervous system response that can create shame, judgement, and the spiral of self-criticism. Taking a moment to understand why your nervous system responds the way it does can inform you the patterns it’s learned along the way. Sometimes we know right away because of distinct trauma history, other times we’re left wondering why.

What I’ve observed, is it much more likely for those that experience freeze responses to stay stuck in trauma loops because they feel as though they should have done something different, reacted different, felt different… but as long as you keep yourself in shame spiral of negative self-criticism, you keep yourself stuck.

What if… you did move in the way you thought you should?
What if you allowed yourself that visual and movement pattern, not because it’s better, but because your mind is stuck holding onto wanting something different. You have the capacity to do it now and complete that desired movement.

It’s the basis of somatic experiencing in completing a movement that never got completed in the moment.

Just sharing this as a gentle reminder that if you freeze, shutdown, fawn, it’s ok. It’s a valid response. You didn’t do anything wrong. Be gentle with yourself and love yourself through the process.
