Dorene comes with 12 years of experience as a Certified Pilates Instructor/Fitness Trainer. She can explain how Pilates and basic exercises can help you find strength and comfort in your body so you can focus on living the healthy life you deserve.

And what better way to relax after a satisfying workout with Dorene, then a massage with Dyanne. She customizes a massage to best fit your needs; anything from to Swedish to Deep Tissue Massage. With over 10 years of experience, Dyanne will work peace and relaxation into your life.

Your path to a healthier you can only be successful when you combine healthy eating habits and exercise. This is where Lauren will help you get started and stay on track. Graduating from San Diego State University with a bachelors degree in Foods and Nutrition, Lauren uses a clinical and holistic approach to wellness. She has implemented a successful group nutrition program and also does one-on-one counseling to help her clients create a healthy lifestyle.

Besides having the opportunity to meet an amazingly talented group of women in their specialized fields you will have the opportunity to buy a raffle ticket for a fantastic gift basket. The basket will be filled with a one-hour Pilates session with Dorene, a one-hour massage with Dyanne and a one-hour nutrition consultation with Lauren. WOW, now that's a great basket and you could be the lucky recipient.

All the proceeds from raffle ticket sales will be donated to the local Kranz Family (http://www.love4jlk.org). Their six year old daughter Jennifer Lynn was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) (http://www.riahsrainbow.org/id14.html). Jennifer and her family frequented People and Planet with their beautiful smiling faces as Jennifer shopped for her favorite Gluten-Free snacks. Are in charge of bring a dish to pass for Thanksgiving and just don't know what to bring? Below are two simple, yet delicious recipes sure to please any audience.

Savory Pumpkin Dip by Melissa King

This dip would be great with chips, crackers or veggies. Great for those holiday parties and a healthy alternative to traditional veggie dips. No added fats in here at all.

1 cup white beans
1 cup pumpkin puree (squash or sweet potato may work as well)
1/4 cup water
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp sea salt

In a food processor or blender, combine all the ingredients until smooth. Serve immediately or refrigerate for later. This should last a couple weeks in the fridge and can even be frozen. This recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups dip. Enjoy!


Grain Free Pumpkin Pie by Melissa King

For the crust:

2 cups blanched almond flour
2 T coconut oil (melted)
1 egg (I used a flax egg replacement and it worked great)
1/4 tsp sea salt

Preheat oven to 350. In a food processor, mix the flour and salt. Then add in the egg and coconut oil and mix until a dough starts to form. Once the dough forms, press it into a greased glass pie dish. I used a 9 inch. Bake it in the oven for about 9-11 minutes.

For the filling:

2 cups pumpkin puree (fresh or canned is fine)
3/4 cup milk (I used almond milk)
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 cup maple syrup
3 T arrowroot powder
1/2 tsp salt

In a food processor, blend all the filling ingredients until smooth. Pour into baked pie crust and bake in the oven at 350 for about 50-60 minutes. When mine was done cooling, it still felt slightly loose, so I put it in the fridge and it completely firmed up. That worked out great. I think that arrowroot is just a tad less stable than cornstarch. However, it is free of GMOs and that’s why I used it over cornstarch. Enjoy!
