I am very excited to share that KJ Therapeutics is now offering a collaborative event with Body and Soul Morris, September 19th!

Come kick up your feet by enjoying 45 minutes of reflexology in Body and Soul’s gorgeous salt room.

Those who may not be familiar with reflexology…

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that primarily focuses on the reflex points on the feet (with gentle pressure). Both Reflexology and the salt room can be a great way to help you breathe easier, promote relaxation, and further reduce stress.

🍂 The Shift Toward Fall

This post is inspired by a recent newsletter from Ann Cecil‑Sterman — I enjoyed reading it as it’s a good reminder. I felt compelled to share it in my own words.

Her reflections on the common cold and seasonal change felt especially fitting as we move from late summer into early fall.

Late summer into early fall is a season of change — in the air, in the body, and often in our inner world.
In classical Chinese medicine, the common cold isn’t just an inconvenience. It’s a message, a moment of recalibration, a sign that something is shifting.

There are two kinds of colds we often see:

• Expulsions — when the body pushes out actual cold it has taken in from weather, wind, or under‑dressing.

• Shifts — when the body uses cold symptoms to help us release rigidity, old patterns, or resistance to change.

Sneezing, a runny nose, a scratchy throat — these aren’t just symptoms. They’re the body’s way of opening the pores, moving stagnation, and helping us adjust to what’s next.

As we move toward fall, you might notice:

• A little more tiredness
• A desire to slow down
• Subtle emotional or mindset shifts
• The body asking for warmth, steadiness, and support

In Chinese medicine, change itself is “contagious.” When one person in a home goes through a shift, others often follow — not necessarily because of a pathogen, but because the body and spirit are responding to seasonal movement.

If you’re feeling the early‑fall transition — physically, emotionally, or energetically — this is a beautiful time to support your system.
Start adding some moistening foods (just name a few) like pear, apples, and honey. Mild pungent flavors like garlic, ginger, and scallions. As well as warming foods like soups, stews, and root veggies. Lastly, remember to keep the back of your neck covered.

🍁 Acupuncture helps the body navigate change with more ease, warmth, and clarity.
Sessions this month are open, and your body will thank you for tending to it before the cooler months arrive.

✨ Book your late‑summer session and let’s help your system shift gently into fall.

✨Anxiety & Depression can settle into the body as much as the mind—tightening the breath, dimming vitality, and making everything feel a little farther away.
At KJ Therapeutics, we work through the body to help you reconnect with what’s still steady inside you.

Massage, reiki, and acupuncture each invite the nervous system to soften: easing tension, supporting emotional regulation, and creating space for relief to emerge.
These alternative therapies don’t replace mental‑health care, but they can be powerful companions—helping you feel held, grounded, and gently returned to yourself.

Here’s to a bright Sunday!

✨Sciatica Relief: Acupuncture + Massage Working Together

Sciatica isn’t just “nerve pain.” It’s a pattern — compression, inflammation, and muscular guarding along the low back, glutes, and legs. When the sciatic nerve gets irritated, it can create sharp pain, tingling, numbness, or deep aching that makes movement feel limited and uncomfortable.

👉🏼 Acupuncture + therapeutic massage support sciatica from two angles:

• Acupuncture reduces inflammation, calms nerve irritation, and helps the body shift out of protective spasm.
• Massage therapy releases tight muscles (especially the piriformis + glutes), improves circulation, and eases the tension that keeps the nerve compressed.

Together, they help the nervous system settle, restore mobility, and create space for the body to heal.

🫠 Relief isn’t just possible — it’s accessible.
Your body can soften, unwind, and return to ease. Give yourself a chance.

✨ Summer Holiday Travel Isn’t Always Easy — and that’s okay

Summer is beautiful, but let’s be honest — travel season can stretch the nervous system thin. Airports packed, long drives in heavy heat, disrupted routines, kids overstimulated, bodies stiff from sitting too long… it’s a lot for anyone.

If you’re feeling it, you’re not alone.
Your body is doing its best to keep you regulated through constant change.

A few gentle reminders while you move through the summer season:

• Pause often — even two minutes of stillness can reset your system.

• Hydrate intentionally — travel depletes faster than we realize.

• Unclench your jaw — tension hides there during long travel days.

• Stretch lightly when you arrive; your fascia will thank you.

If your summer travel has left your body tight, tired, or a little overwhelmed, I’ve got you.

I have a couple spots left for the month of July — come reset, soften, and settle back into yourself. ☀️🌴

🧊❄️Frozen shoulder — also called adhesive capsulitis — affects women more often than men, especially between ages 40–60. Hormonal shifts, inflammation, and periods of reduced shoulder movement can all play a role.

If your shoulder feels stiff, painful, or “stuck,” you’re not alone — and you don’t have to push through it. Gentle, consistent care can help thaw the tension.

A few supportive reminders:

• Move mindfully — daily stretching helps restore mobility over time.
• Hydrate your tissues — fascia responds to water + movement.
• Seek support — acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and integrative bodywork can ease pain and improve range of motion.

📚 Here you can find evidence‑based resources on Frozen Shoulder. (PubMed)

• Acupuncture + Physical Therapy improves pain and mobility in frozen shoulder (Xu et al., 2024, Pain Management Nursing). mayoclinic.org
• High‑intensity laser vs. ultrasound therapy shows measurable improvements in adhesive capsulitis (Uysal et al., 2023). mayoclinic.org
• Women ages 40–60 are affected more often, with stiffness progressing through predictable stages. health.harvard.

If your shoulder has been whispering (or shouting) for your attention, let’s get you on the table.
July sessions that are available: 7/20, 7/24, and 7/30.
Book your session and melt the tension — one gentle step at a time. ✨
