It is just Waheguru
Few days ago I overheard a conversation in the dusty, boiling mountains of Espanola during White Ta***ic Yoga.
The person must have been new to the practice asking a seemingly more established practitioner: “what are you trying to run from? It looks all pure and white but we all want to hide something behind this facade , no?”
I didn’t not stay for the answer but I stayed with the idea as if I had to answer it. Walked with it for a few and seriously asked myself if I was running from anything.
With a pure, absolutely honest heart I realized that I am doing the opposite. Finally!!
I am staying, once for all. Used to run…but now I am home. There is nowhere else to run. I was always longing to be here…had no idea it would look like this. For some; theatrical, for others intimidating, cultish, saintly, too religious…
For decades I was running from responsibility, myself, the truth, entanglement of emotions, relationships, the polarities, the crowed, loneliness, pain, love, my hearts voice, hate, softwares, people, don’t wants and needs…into the Bible, to the Dalai Lama’s naming ceremony, followed by Hinduism, memorizing 316 different names of Gods and their purposes, then I chose to study the Torah and secretly but honestly remained a seeker.
I was still hungry when I was about 2 years into practicing Kundalini Yoga but I knew I was getting closer…my soul started to get nourishment.
When Japji and Sikhi touched my shoulders everything in between lit up.
This guy, Nanak’s light, who has no “negativity” or doubt penetrated my being. And the more I listen, the more I am IT.
They are my parents, my caretakers: husband and wife, Kundalini yoga and Sikh Dharma. I could not imagine chanting for years without doing kundalini yoga and could not just practice Kriyas without contemplating on Gurbani and the Hukam.
I am dancing along. Allowing mom and dad, sun and moon, the two nurses to heal and love me.
In Kundalini yoga, during meditation, early morning sadhana: we sit.
During White Ta***ic Yoga: we sit.
With the Sikh Sangat during eating, chanting, path, meditation, kathas: we sit.
We face what would make us run.
We witness existence together.
We synchronize our breath and heart rate so we share and distribute all we got.
We hold space and sit with and for each other so hatred has no space left.
Every day we sit.
Before the sun comes up, we rewrite our story, give up a hairline of our darkness so the day could be brighter and lighter.
On this dharmic path, we face time and space, all our tendencies and we forgive.
We face all challenges of wanting to be perfect or not caring at all.
We fall and rise.
We beat ourselves up and when we put our crown back in the morning, all else falls away. Radiance remains. We don’t wait for God we realize it in the breath. In our voices.
Then I get to my car I open my hair because it’s gasping for air but then I already listened to who I really am, and I remember…
Im not going anywhere.
I am more home than ever.
With the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life: I sit with the Shabad of thousands of beautiful presenters. Men, women, kids, elderly, from Chile, NM, India, Brasil, England… everyone’s voice washes down a different wall at the shore of my heart.
Even the imperfect fragments are part of IT.
All that comes and all that goes. The One’s doing.
Some stay for the show, others stay for the Teachings. Deeper and deeper… and it is all Waheguru. Gods grace.
We lose our running shoes.
I surely did.
Kundalini and the Sikh Sangat taught me that I can sit in white, beige, pink, shawl or turban, chola or pretty dress, as a Hungarian or an American it is all: Waheguru. The strongest, most resilient and stable: Waheguru, I ever heard.
And the Sangat I have known for almost two decades is incredibly strong and loving.
My mind could interpret so many things in so many ways, but it is just: Waheguru. Never was anything else nor will be.
So Im staying. And I brought my son and mom happily. Gratefully. They are embraced, loved and cared for and they love being a part of Waheguru.
We love this KY/Sikh Dharma/WTY/ thingy.
