PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES!

The first thing we need is for the House of Representatives to pass the continuing resolution early next week, that will push back the ban into December rather than November.

The second thing we need is for them to pass a bill that protects access to full spectrum CBD products. Something like the second version of the Lawful H**p Protection Act (LPHA) (H.R. 9830) by Barr and Craig.

Please pick up the phone and call. It only takes 10 minutes of your time. If everyone who sees this message calls their representatives, then we might stand a chance. Thank you.

CBD is UNDER ATTACK

This is not a drill!

Recently our payment processor Square emailed us to let us know that they will be closing our account in November if we continue to sell CBD products. This is a suprise to us because we have been on Square's CBD Pilot program for years without any problems.

What can you do?

PLEASE contact your legislator, you can do it right now! Tell them we need sensible regulations around CBD and H**p. We need consumer access protected and we need small family businesses like mine to able to continue selling our products without interference.

You can also STOCK UP NOW on your favorite H**p Flower and other CBD Products. We are marking all CBD products down by 40% in an attempt to sell them off. For now you can still order online, but please reach out via phone call 802-505-3863 or 904-327-4317 if you have any questions.

Remember this wisdom:

"If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny."

Magnolia hydrosol and incense cones! πŸ’šπŸ€ŒπŸ»

I've been wanting to try this for a few years now and every season I miss my opportunity! But not this year 😊 this year I had to make it happen.

These are Magnolia blossoms that I harvested and then distilled some and dried some. The hydrosol turned out lovely and the dried powdered blossoms have an equally incredible aroma, especially immediately after grinding them. I used the hydrosol as the wetting agent and made pure Magnolia Incense cones 😍

The smoke is nice, not the same as the fresh blossoms but still fragrant and appealing. I am going to make another batch using Makko powder from my friend Tyler Gillen, hopefully this will help it stay lit and burn longer.

I think also I am going to infuse some of the powdered blossoms into a carrier oil for massage use or to make salve with...I want to get into natural perfumery eventually, one day, when I have a bit more free time πŸ™„

Have you ever worked with Magnolia? What else should I try with my remaining hydrosol and dried blossoms?

Ramps are a popular topic this time of year and for good reason. These wild leeks are delicious wild foods that can be used like you would use onions, garlic, etc. Today I picked up a bag at the co-op because I haven't had a chance to get out there yet, but I can't help but notice how they were harvested.

A lot of people will shame you for harvesting the bulb and say you must only pick one leaf at a time. I would advocate for a middle way. If you take your time in the harvest process, you can gently dig down and fairly easily pop the individual ramp off from the corm (root/rhizome) and the plant will continue to live and grow new leaves in the future.

Another good practice is to return to the harvest spot in the fall (after the seeds have set) and gather the seeds and replant them in the general area or in a different area that would be suitable habitat.

We can all enjoy wild foods if we wildcraft sustainably and intelligently with the wisdom of nature at the core of everything we do. When people are harvesting strictly for profit, they are digging up entire colonies that have taken years to get established.

Happy Easter!

Finally the Spring is starting to make an appearance. I love these crocuses that come up first thing as soon as the snow melts.

I'm looking forward to this busy year. It's my 40th birthday later this month. There is always so much to do with the business and the realm of gardening and wildcrafting. And I can't forget to mention the upcoming birth of our second son this summer! We are overjoyed and can't wait for Theo to meet his little brother!

Wishing you all a joyful spring πŸŒΌπŸŒ±πŸ’š

Yesterday I was pleased to visit for the first time the in the heart of Cincinnati, Ohio. If you haven't heard of the it is kind of a pilgrimage site for herbalists and all of those who are interested in herbalism, botany, pharmacology, and the history of medicine. It was serendipitous that the current exhibit is The Botany of Beverages, something that definitely appeals to me and my work.

There were numerous manuscripts with beautiful detailed drawings featuring a variety of medicinal herbs used in beverages: gentian, wormwood, cola, star anise, cacao, tea, wine, beer, sugarcane, coffee, and so many more.

There are even books written in the original Latin and German that are hundreds of years old, the oldest one dating back to 1544!

Built by the Lloyd Brothers in the late 1800s to advance botanical pharmacy and pharmacognosy, the collection preserves the research, formulas, and clinical thinking that shaped American herbal medicine.

This place is truly something special and I hope to spend more time here.
