TROPICAL WEATHER PREPAREDNESS | COVINGTON COUNTY
Covington County Emergency Management Agency is closely monitoring tropical weather that could impact South Mississippi this weekend.
While the exact track, timing, and impacts may change, now is the time to prepare β not when severe weather arrives.
Residents are encouraged to take the following steps:
πΉ Stay Weather Aware β Monitor trusted weather sources and pay attention to watches, warnings, and updates from local officials.
πΉ Prepare Your Emergency Kit β Have enough water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and other essential supplies for several days.
πΉ Prepare for Power Outages β Charge phones and portable battery packs and make sure flashlights are working. Never operate a generator inside a home, garage, or enclosed area.
πΉ Secure Your Property β Pick up or secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, decorations, and other loose objects that could become hazards during high winds.
πΉ Be Prepared for Heavy Rain & Flooding β Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Donβt Drown.
πΉ Check on Others β Make sure elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone with medical or special needs has a plan and necessary supplies.
π± Have Multiple Ways to Receive Weather Alerts. Do not rely solely on outdoor warning sirens or social media for emergency information.
Forecasts can change quickly with tropical systems. Covington County EMA will continue monitoring conditions and provide additional information as it becomes available.
Prepare now. Stay informed. Stay safe.
