So most of the South is out of the frost risk and we can start planting in our gardens again (if you haven’t already started). Here are some things you can start to direct sow, transplant into your garden if you live in Zone 8B.

🌿 Vegetables to Plant in April (Zone 8b):
🔥 Warm-Season Crops (your main focus now)
These LOVE the warming temps:
• Tomatoes 🍅
• Peppers (bell + hot) 🌶️
• Cucumbers 🥒
• Squash (zucchini & yellow squash)
• Beans (green beans, pole beans)
• Corn 🌽
• Eggplant 🍆
• Okra

👉 Tip:
• In Zone 8b, these are best planted as seedlings/transplants, not seeds (except beans, corn, cucumbers, you can direct sow those).

🌱 Still Safe to Direct Sow:

Fast growers that handle April perfectly:
• Carrots 🥕
• Radishes
• Beets
• Turnips
• Swiss chard

🥬 Leafy Greens (Last Call!):

You can still sneak these in early April:
• Lettuce
• Spinach
• Kale
• Arugula

⚠️ But… they’ll start bolting (going to seed) as temps rise, so:
• Plant in partial shade
• Harvest quickly��

Perfect time to start your herb garden:
• Basil 🌿 (thrives in warmth)
• Cilantro (plant now before heat kills it)
