I had the best time this weekend sharing manners, mindfulness and etiquette classes at the Harbour Club at WestEdge. On Friday we had a private dining etiquette class for 3rd-5th graders and on Sunday a reading of Mindful Santa for PreK-2nd graders. 🎄

The most difficult part of having summer babies (besides just getting out of the house in general) is getting out of the house during times of the day when it isn’t too hot. My doctor’s recommendation was to stay indoors once it gets over 85 degrees which in Charleston, has been almost every day since May! I thought since it’s been overcast and “cooler” these past few days we would check out the sunflowers at Boone Hall Plantation! Unfortunately the rain made the fields a little too muddy so if you go this weekend I would definitely recommend wearing rain boots and bring wipes if anyone falls or gets stuck (like my toddler did!)

🌻The sunflower fields are open Monday - Saturday from 10am - 4pm. It’s $1/person admission and $2/stem. Also, In the past they provided clippers, but the past two years they have required you to bring your own, so don’t forget your garden shears!

Do you plan on going to the fields this summer?

7 creative ways to celebrate Christmas in July! 🎄

Christmas in July is a tradition designed to act a bit like a “self-hypnosis” to help beat the summer heat! Experts say that simply thinking about colder weather has a placebo effect on the mind helping to evoke a feeling of cooler temperatures.

I first saw this tip shared by .marbella and thought to myself.. okay that is cute, but does anybody really eat cupcakes like this? And then I noticed my mom eating her cupcake just like this at my daughter’s birthday party and thought to myself okay maybe they are both onto something here. So I tried it and it really does make a big difference!

I thought it would be worth a share in case anybody else has spent years trying to find the perfect cake vs. icing cupcake mix! 🧁

“Either we spend time meeting children’s emotional needs by filling their cup with love, or we spend time dealing with the behaviors caused from the unmet needs.” -Pam Leo

I recently saw this quote shared by and went back a few times to re-read it as it deeply resonated with me.

I’m pretty sure we spent more time packing and unpacking then we actually spent at the beach today, but it felt so nice to be outside with our family and enjoy the beautiful weather. This was our first beach trip with both girls since the new baby was born.
