I traveled deep into the mountains of Colombia searching for an authentic shamanic tradition.

What I found was not what I expected.

After meeting many practitioners and hearing countless stories, I discovered a woman known locally as the "Lady of the Divine Child Jesus." According to those in the region, she carries a rare spiritual lineage that has been passed down through generations.

This journey took me through remote mountain communities, challenging roads, and conversations that changed my understanding of healing, intuition, and tradition.

One of my favorite parts of traveling is discovering everyday local traditions.

Today I stopped at a busy street food cart high in the Colombian mountains. Fresh potatoes are sliced directly into hot oil and served moments later. The entire process happens right in front of you.

Simple. Authentic. Delicious.

These small moments often tell you more about a place than any tourist attraction.

The road into the Colombian Amazon got real yesterday.

What started as pavement quickly turned into mud, rain, rough mountain roads, and eventually my first serious river crossing by motorcycle.

Standing at the edge of the river, I couldn't see the rocks beneath the water. The current was moving fast, and even a car was having trouble getting through. To make things more interesting, my front tire is currently closer to a street tire than an off-road tire.

If the bike went down, everything would be soaked. Picking up a fully loaded BMW F850 GS in the middle of a river wasn't something I wanted to experience.

I pulled over, talked with some locals, watched a few vehicles attempt the crossing, and tried to figure out the safest line.

In the end, there was only one way forward.

Sometimes adventure isn't about fearlessness. It's about making the best decision you can with the information you have and then committing to it.

The Colombian Amazon is already delivering experiences I won't forget.

Have you ever faced a situation where there was no perfect answer and the only option was to move forward?

As I made my way toward Mocoa, Colombia, the gateway to the Amazon, the ride quickly turned into an adventure.

Heavy rain, road construction, mud, darkness, and long stretches of remote mountain highway made for an intense night on the motorcycle. Visibility dropped, the roads became slick, and every kilometer demanded complete focus.

Mocoa sits at the edge of the Colombian Amazon, where the Andes begin giving way to dense rainforest. This ride was my first real taste of the region and a reminder that some of the most memorable travel moments happen when conditions are far from perfect.

🇨🇴 Today riding out of Bogata, Colombia, I discovered some unique local foods, including breads and tropical fruits I'd never seen before.
Then I was introduced to a traditional local game that looks a bit like bocce ball, except the clay targets explode with a loud bang when you hit them. After quite a few attempts, we finally struck the target!

These unexpected cultural experiences are often the best part of traveling through South America.

First impressions of Bogotá after crossing from Panama into South America by motorcycle. Honestly, this feels like the real beginning of the adventure.

Compared to Panama City, Bogotá feels calmer, more relaxed, and much more affordable. Smaller neighborhoods, less traffic, amazing food, motorcycle culture everywhere, and genuinely friendly people.

One thing I keep noticing throughout Latin America is how willing people are to help travelers. Even small gyms along the route will sometimes let you work out for free for a few minutes just to be welcoming.

South America already feels different in the best way possible. 🇨🇴🏍️

Exploring Panama City one road at a time 🌴🏍️
Skyscrapers on one side, the Pacific Ocean on the other. Definitely a city best experienced on two wheels.

Crossing from Panama to Colombia with a motorcycle is one of the wildest parts of overland travel 🌎🏍️

No roads. No easy route. Just boats, cargo options, ocean crossings, and the legendary Darién Gap between Central and South America. ⛴️🌊

Would you ship the bike by boat… or fly it? 😳

Cold watermelon horchata in the middle of Panama’s tropical heat 🍉🇵🇦

Stopped for this refreshing local drink while traveling through Central America by motorcycle. Creamy horchata mixed with fresh watermelon and cinnamon was surprisingly good after a long hot ride. Small roadside food discoveries like this are one of the best parts of overland travel.

The mountain roads of Honduras are no joke.
Strong crosswinds, sharp curves, steep drop-offs, and one sudden moment changed everything for a teenage rider on this pass locals call “Butter.” 🏍️🌪️
Traveling through Central America keeps reminding me how quickly conditions can shift in the mountains. Beautiful scenery one second, full focus the next.

Even through the intensity, there’s something deeply alive about these roads and the people you meet along the way. Honduras has been wild, welcoming, and unforgettable so far.
