The purpose of the Knox Community Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship is to award Knox County residents with a high school diploma or equivalent, or current high school seniors who are pursuing or plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in the Health Care field. Applications are screened and selected by the Knox Community Hospital Scholarship Committee. This year, 16 students were selected to receive the $2,000 scholarship award. This was our first year the scholarship was in the amount of $2,000. Our KCH Auxiliary was very excited to increase the amount from $1,000 to $2,000. The KCH Auxiliary is a group of volunteers who raise funds for these scholarships through annual fundraising events held at the hospital and proceeds from sales in the KCH Gift Shops.
Additionally, this was the tenth year for the Nellie & Lowell Truex Memorial Scholarship. This award was awarded to Viktoria Arnett from Fredericktown High School. Viktoria plans to attend Ohio Northern University in the fall.
