May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, so we wanted to take a minute and recognize Katie Silveous, Au.D., for her dedication to her patients and for making sure that everyone has access to tools that will help them live every day to the fullest. One of her patients said, “As I have gotten older, I noticed that I could hear sounds, but when people spoke to me, I couldn't always understand the words. I often had to ask others to repeat themselves. Sometimes I would understand, and other times I wouldn't, so I would just pretend that I did. I felt lost in crowds and meetings. I made an appointment with Dr. Katie Silveous, and she tested me thoroughly. She fit me with hearing aids that have worked wonders. She is very professional and caring. If I notice any changes, I can call her office, and she will test my hearing again and make any necessary adjustments to my hearing aids. I always leave feeling happy and confident. I trust Dr. Silveous to help me. I no longer feel lost in a crowd, at meetings, or with family and friends.”

During this week, join us in taking a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible nurses who care for our patients with skill, compassion, and dedication every day. Nurses are the heart of healthcare. They are often the first face patients see, the steady presence during difficult times, and the tireless advocates who ensure each patient receives safe, high-quality care. Their expertise makes a lasting difference in the lives of patients and families throughout our community. From everyone here at KCH, we thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and the care you provide every single day. Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do.
