Last week, we held a ribbon-cutting for the opening of our Venture Drive Internal Medicine office. We were joined by Caleb Shriver, Regional Liaison from the Office of the Ohio Secretary of State, who presented a proclamation recognizing the significance of this event, as it represents an important investment by KCH in the community’s health and well-being. We were also joined by Jonathan Hubert from US Congressman Troy Balderson's office, who presented KCH with a certificate of recognition for its commitment to quality, accessible healthcare.

We're excited to expand care and add new providers, making healthcare more accessible in our community. The Venture Drive office is accepting new patients. Call us at 740.393.9766 to schedule an appointment today.

Kevin Shields, Physician Assistant, grew up in Bucyrus and attended the University of Findlay to earn a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine; later, he returned there for his Master's in Physician Assistant studies. Shields has two children: Connor, 8th grade, plays football and baseball while Sierra, a senior, is involved in FFA at Danville schools. Kevin came to Mount Vernon in 2006 after college and started at KCH in nuclear medicine. “I fell in love with community and the culture of KCH.” After taking a break to earn his graduate degree in 2015, Kevin came back to KCH as a Physician’s Assistant in internal medicine and wound healing. “The KCH culture is welcoming, accepting, and makes providers/patients feel extremely well-respected. Living in the community where I work makes patient care that much more rewarding.” In his spare time, you might find Kevin fishing, hunting, golfing, travelling or enjoying time with family/friends. “My goal is to get to know each patient as an individual and provide evidence-based medicine towards a mutual care plan. I am flexible, understanding, and compassionate, and will not force medications or treatment options that go against patient morals or beliefs.” Something unique about Kevin Shields: he holds a certificate of completion from the University of Kentucky in bourbon production engineering and would love to retire as a master distiller someday!

Knox Community Hospital is taking an important step to strengthen local care and continue investing in the people, services and technology that support our future.

After a thorough evaluation, KCH has signed a non-binding letter of intent to join Kettering Health, a nonprofit health system in southwestern Ohio. Kettering Health shares KCH’s commitment to keeping care close to home and supporting our physicians, employees, patients and community.

The letter of intent is not a final agreement. It allows both organizations to continue discussions and complete additional evaluation. KCH and Kettering Health expect to work toward a final, definitive agreement by early fall, with the goal of completing the process by the end of 2026, pending all legal and regulatory reviews.

There are no changes to care, services or operations at this time. We’ll continue to be here when you need us and keep you updated along the way. Learn more about what’s ahead: https://www.kch.org/strong-future-local-care

Hayley Testa grew up in Fredericktown, Ohio and graduated from Fredericktown High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor's in Nursing from Capital University and Master's in Nursing from University of Cincinnati. In her spare time, Hayley enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids as well as reading, cooking, yoga, and anything outdoors. Something unique that most people might not know about Hayley: she loves trying new food trucks, and is always on the lookout for a hidden gem! “After working several years with the KCH OBGYN office as a triage nurse, I am finally stepping into my dream role as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. I am excited to continue to provide care to the community that I call home and I hope I can make every patient feel comfortable, listened to and confident in the care they receive.”
