🌿 ANXIETY ISN’T JUST “IN YOUR HEAD” — YOUR WHOLE BODY FEELS IT.
Racing thoughts. Tight shoulders. A pounding heart. Trouble falling asleep because your brain suddenly wants to review your entire life at 2 a.m. 😅 Feeling exhausted but somehow still wired.
When your nervous system spends too much time in high-alert mode, supporting the whole body can make a difference.
And no — natural support doesn’t have to mean taking 15 different supplements.
🌙 START WITH SLEEP
Sleep and anxiety can create a frustrating cycle. Anxiety makes quality sleep harder, while inadequate sleep can make the nervous system more reactive the following day.
Try creating a predictable evening routine: dim the lights, put the phone down earlier, keep your bedroom cool and dark, and aim for a consistent bedtime and wake time.
🌿 HERBAL SUPPORT
This is one of my favorite areas of herbalism because there are beautiful herbs traditionally used to support relaxation and a healthy stress response.
At Revive & Root, I offer tincture options that can be individualized to your needs. Depending on the person, herbal support may be used during the daytime for a calmer nervous system or as part of an evening wind-down routine.
Herbs aren’t one-size-fits-all, though — especially if you’re taking anxiety medications, antidepressants, sleep medications, or other prescriptions. That’s why I prefer looking at the person before recommending the bottle.
💚 MAGNESIUM GLYCINATE
Magnesium is involved in hundreds of processes throughout the body, including normal nerve and muscle function.
The glycinate form is generally well tolerated and is one of my favorites when we’re looking at nervous-system support. It can be a wonderful part of an evening routine for appropriate clients, particularly when muscle tension and difficulty winding down are part of the picture.
🚶♀️ MOVE YOUR BODY
Exercise doesn’t have to mean an hour at the gym.
Walk around the block. Work in the garden. Stretch. Dance in your kitchen. Take the stairs.
Regular movement supports mood, sleep, blood-sugar regulation, cardiovascular health and our ability to cope with stress.
☀️ DON’T FORGET THE BORING STUFF — BECAUSE IT WORKS.
Eat regularly. Get enough protein. Drink your water. Get outside in the morning sunlight. Cut back on excessive caffeine if you’re already feeling wired. Take five minutes to breathe slowly. Spend time with people who make you feel safe. Pray. Journal. Sit outside barefoot in the grass if that’s your thing.
Sometimes supporting anxiety isn’t about finding one magical herb.
It’s about giving your nervous system a hundred little signals that it doesn’t have to stay on high alert all day long. 🌿
If anxiety has been running the show lately and you aren’t sure where to begin, that’s exactly the kind of thing we can look at together at Revive & Root. We can talk about your sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, medications and herbal options and build something that actually makes sense for you.
