Greetings on this cool Friday! 🙏
Recently, many elderly friends have come to our clinic after suffering falls, fractures, acute and chronic lower back pain, leg pain, and other conditions that appear to be age-related but are often the result of lifestyle habits.
For this reason, we continually remind our patients:
To live well, keep moving!
Aim for at least three sessions of vigorous exercise each week and practice these three key principles:
1. Breathe (吸)
Practice deep meditation and slow nasal breathing, similar to the traditional “turtle breathing” method.
2. Exert (喘)
Engage in interval training that elevates your heart rate and makes you breathe heavily, helping to strengthen cardiovascular fitness.
3. Balance (平)
Maintain a calm and peaceful mindset through Tai Chi and internal energy cultivation exercises.
Aging Is an Energy Issue, Not Simply the Passage of Time
Mitochondria Determine Your Healthspan
1. The Truth About Aging: Lifestyle Matters Most
Scientific research suggests that approximately 70% of aging outcomes are influenced by lifestyle, while genetics account for about 30%. Three weeks of bed rest can cause more cardiovascular decline than decades of natural aging, and prolonged sitting is a stronger predictor of premature death than smoking.
2. The Exercise Revolution: The Power of HIIT
For around 40% of people, ordinary walking or jogging may not significantly improve cardiovascular fitness. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), reaching over 80% of maximum heart rate, is often more effective. People with strong cardiorespiratory fitness may enjoy a life expectancy up to five years longer.
3. Vitamin D Deficiency: A Cognitive Health Warning
More than 70% of the world’s population may have insufficient Vitamin D levels. Deficiency has been associated with a significantly increased risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Maintaining healthy Vitamin D levels may help support brain health and cognitive function.
4. The Micronutrient Strategy: Magnesium and Creatine
About half of the population may not consume enough magnesium, which is involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. Creatine is not only a sports supplement but also an important energy source for the brain and may help support cognitive performance, especially during periods of fatigue or sleep deprivation.
