โ€œSo the PGT-A result will tell us if our embryo is normal or abnormal right?โ€
Not exactly. ๐Ÿ‘€

When we run PGT-A, we donโ€™t touch the cells that become your baby.
We biopsy the trophectoderm. The outer cells. The ones destined to become the placenta. 5 to 10 cells, from the outside and thatโ€™s the whole sample.
The inner cell mass, that clump of cells in the middle go on to become your baby. We leave them completely alone.
So the result can come back euploid, aneuploid, low mosaic, high mosaic.... or at times inconclusiveโ€ฆ.

In this masterclass I dove into the world of mosaic embryos, how they come about and what the research tells us.
Iโ€™ve biopsied many of these embryos myself. Now I help you understand yours. ๐Ÿ’›

A little something to share with my community here. Our family has recently started to enjoy little overnight adventures as we explore California.

Holidays would usually be reserved for long haul trips to see our parents in New Zealand or Scotland, but lately weโ€™ve realized these short 24 to 48 hour bursts of adventure bring us so much joy and the recharge we need before jumping back into work and school mode.

Just this past weekend we drove to Witter Springs and had a farm animal adventure. We stayed the night in a barn airbnb and the kids were in tears when we were leaving ๐Ÿ˜Œ โ€”> had to explain why we couldnโ€™t bring Kelly the horse home with us to San Jose ๐Ÿ˜…

Trust your fertility doctor. They place you on the oral contraceptive pill for a reason. They all want the best outcome for you. Ask questions and know why this protocol was chosen for your particular case.

Infertility and IVF changed the course of my life.

There was a version of me who didnโ€™t know if this would be my story.
Infertility brought emotional and physical challenges I wasnโ€™t prepared for.โ€จThe waiting. The unknown. The quiet moments where you question everything.

IVF became part of my journey to motherhood.โ€จNot just because it helped me become a momโ€ฆโ€จbut because it gave me a deep understanding of what people are really going through behind closed doors.

Now, as an IVF scientist in your pocket, I spend my days supporting individuals and couples navigating infertility, IVF, and embryo transfer decisions.

Becoming mom to these two little humans reminded me in the most personal way that every path to a child is different.
And every story deserves space.โ€จCompassion.โ€จAnd hope. ๐Ÿค

If youโ€™re going through infertility or IVF right nowโ€ฆ I see you.

No one talks about this part.
The empty spaces. The quiet house. The โ€œnot yet.โ€

While everyone else is cleaning up toysโ€ฆ youโ€™re still waiting for your turn.

I see you. I was you.

I was 1 in 6.
Now I support 1 in 6.

And I hope your โ€œnot yetโ€ turns into โ€œfinallyโ€ sooner than you think. โœจ

What can you actually do to improve your chances of a live birth after an embryo transfer?

I get asked this all the time.

So during National Infertility Awareness Week, I took this question straight to Natalie Crawford, double board-certified OB-GYN and Reproductive Endocrinologist.

Because IVF success isnโ€™t just about the transfer day.

Itโ€™s about:
Embryo quality
Uterine environment
Inflammation
Insulin resistance
And asking the right questions before you move forward

IVF can feel overwhelming, especially after failed cycles or when youโ€™re not getting clear answers.

You donโ€™t have to navigate this blindly.

This artwork, โ€œTorture Gripsโ€ by artist Em Cooper was created for the Bodyform/Libresse campaign, which paired real quotes from people living with endometriosis with visual art to express pain that is often invisible and dismissed.

Seeing this piece immediately reminded me of many conversations Iโ€™ve had with clients living with symptomatic endometriosis. The descriptions of pain are often intense, difficult to explain, and too often minimised.

A few evidence-based facts:
โ€ข Endometriosis affects about 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth worldwide (โ‰ˆ190 million people).๏ฟฝโ€ข Studies suggest the average time to diagnosis is often 6โ€“9 years, sometimes longer.๏ฟฝโ€ข Many cases may remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years due to symptom normalisation and lack of awareness.
For many patients, the hardest part is not only the pain โ€” but not being believed.
If this resonates with you, know that your symptoms deserve to be taken seriously.

โ€” Many virtual hugs
