✨This Global Running Day 🏃‍♀️, we’re putting the spotlight on Alex! Alex is an RWJBarnabas Health employee who is making a difference for kids by joining the Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation New York City Marathon team 🗽🏅.

“I’m proud to be running on the CSH NYC Marathon Team because as an employee at RWJBarnabas Health, I see firsthand the impact that compassionate, high-quality care can have on the communities we serve every day,” said Alex. “The work my colleagues do transforms lives, not just for patients, but for entire families. That's why every mile I run has meaning.”

Alex and the rest of the Foundation marathon team have committed to training, raising critical funds, and running an incredible 26.2 miles on November 1 through all five New York City boroughs.

Congratulations to Kelly Keefe Marcoux, PhD, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Children's Specialized Hospital (part of the Children’s Health network at RWJBarnabas Health), on being named the inaugural recipient of the Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN) DAISY Award of the Year in Pediatric Nursing! The award was presented to her at the SPN’s 36th Annual Conference recently held in Orlando, Florida.

The SPN DAISY Award of the Year in Pediatric Nursing recognizes one exceptional pediatric nurse annually whose work reflects the DAISY Award’s mission of honoring extraordinary nurses for compassionate care and clinical excellence. Kelly was recognized for her leadership, commitment to advancing pediatric nursing, and dedication to improving the lives of children and families with complex healthcare needs.

Meet Lisa!✨

On today's we are so excited to introduce you to Lisa. Lisa is a nurse on our rec therapy team here at Children's Specialized Hospital. Her impact on our patients and families, events, and CSH community is felt far and wide. Lisa plays a huge part in our events here at CSH, creating expert decorations and designs for events like our winter wonderland party, prom, and so much more!

"It's a unique position that allows me to use 20+ years of pediatric nursing experience in the most fun ways. You can find me working alongside our therapists, continuing basic nursing care for our patients when they are out of their rooms or off the units for therapy sessions, groups or just hanging out in the Rec Room.

If the backpack is on, follow me on the big bus for a fun out-trip! Or maybe just an elevator ride down to the auditorium for a special event. When summer rolls around it's CAMP TIME!! Fun awaits as a camp nurse for True Grit and Camp Chatterbox.

But the best part of my job you ask? PROM!!! Creating this special event is by far the most fun I have all year. As you see, I'm here, I'm there.... I'm everywhere! And I love every second of my day!"

From gentle oral motor exercises and feeding therapy to promote safe swallowing to early speech and communication development, our Speech and Language Pathologists help our littlest friends build the skills the they need for safe and joyful feeding experiences.🥦🍎😊

Our inpatient speech and language pathologists work with our patients on oral motor skills, pre-feeding, advancing diets and, of course, communication. They partnering with families to make therapy play-based, while following the child’s lead. 💛
