My oldest sister recently passed away from cancer, and my heart is broken. Unfortunately, I hadn’t seen her in several years, but I was blessed to be able to say goodbye over the phone.
I didn’t know she had cancer. If I had, I would have sent her my book and shared everything I know about supporting the body through good nutrition.
Her passing has reminded me why I’m so passionate about helping others who are walking this difficult journey. If you know someone facing cancer—or someone caring for a loved one who is—please share this post with them. I would be honored to talk with them and help them better understand how nutrition can support their health alongside the care they receive from their medical team.
On Saturday, August 8, from 1:00–4:00 PM, I’ll be hosting Walking the Journey Together, a free community resource gathering at Thorn Hill Winery. This event is designed to connect cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families with valuable local resources, education, encouragement, and hope. Whether someone has been newly diagnosed, is in treatment, is celebrating survivorship, or is caring for a loved one, they are welcome.
I truly believe that food is one of the ways we can help support the body. As a certified nutritional therapist, I help people understand how medications may affect vitamin, mineral, and nutrient levels, and how food choices can support overall wellness. I also encourage everyone to work closely with their physician and healthcare team before making changes or adding supplements, because some vitamins and supplements can interact with medications.
If sharing my story helps even one person find hope, support, or a resource that makes this journey a little easier, then my sister’s legacy will continue to touch lives.
Thank you for helping me spread the word.
