National Disability Employment Awareness Month reminds us that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue meaningful employment, develop their skills, and contribute to their community.

Ren has been working at Olive Garden for several months and loves the variety of her job and the opportunity to stay busy throughout her shifts! From keeping supplies stocked for the waitstaff to filling drinks and clearing and cleaning tables, she takes pride in helping create a welcoming experience for every customer. She wants everyone to feel happy, welcomed, and valued.

During her very first training session, Ren received a positive customer review recognizing her strong work ethic, positive attitude, and friendly personality. It was the quickest a trainee had ever received a review!

A big thank-you to Olive Garden for giving Ren this opportunity. She loves being part of the team! 💚

National Disability Employment Awareness Month is a time to recognize the talents, skills, and contributions people with disabilities bring to the workforce.

Check back each Friday as we spotlight some of our friends who are making a positive impact in their communities!

After volunteering at the Muncie Children’s Museum for a couple of years, Jhon’s dedication and hard work caught the attention of the staff, who created a job just for him! His responsibilities include everything from cleaning and assisting with gift shop inventory to helping with children’s events.

Jhon’s hard work has certainly paid off—he was named the museum’s Employee of the Month for September! 🎉

Jhon looks forward to every day he gets to work at the museum. When asked how his job is going, his response is always the same: “Excellent. I love my job!”

We’re proud of Jhon and grateful to the Muncie Children's Museum for recognizing his abilities and providing an opportunity for him to shine!

Everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue meaningful work, build skills, and contribute their talents to the community. By creating inclusive workplaces and recognizing the strengths of people with disabilities, we can break down barriers and create more opportunities for everyone to succeed.

We are thankful for the local businesses that partner with us to create meaningful volunteer and employment opportunities for the individuals we serve.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), and this year’s theme is "Celebrating Value and Talent." People with disabilities bring skills, creativity, and perspective that strengthen every workplace. Yet, hiring barriers and bias still shut many out. Only about 38% of people with disabilities are employed, compared to 75% of those without disabilities. This month is a chance to raise awareness, challenge bias, and promote inclusive practices that benefit everyone.

We are excited to be a part of this year's Soup Crawl!! If you have a Soup Crawl ticket, make sure you make it to Cornerstone Center for the Arts and try our BBQ Chicken Chili, created by staff and members of our Culinary Class.

Last week was a busy week at Hillcroft.

Throughout the week we celebrated our AMAZING HCBS team!! Thank you for your hard work, commitment and dedication to those we serve.

On Friday, we celebrated the retirement of our Creativity Unlimited Manager Leann Rector. Thank you for everything you’ve done for Hillcroft Services. We will miss you and Lola!

We ended the week with our Fall Vendor Market on Saturday. We had lots of great vendors with lots of unique items. Our next market will take place in March.
