As National Midwifery Week comes to an end, I’m so thankful for this birth-work. I’m thankful for my preceptor Jennifer Miller for being a guiding light on my midwifery journey. Shoutout to all the midwives I have the pleasure of working alongside & clients that have welcomed me into their space/care. There’s not many midwives that look like me, and I’m excited to be that change. I’m so close to being an official graduate & new midwife added to my community! This journey hasn’t been easy, oh but the reward at the end will be so worth it! There are days or doubt & feelings of giving up. Thank you God for always showing & reminding me exactly why I’m in this calling♥️

The life of a midwifery student, birth doula, & midwife assistant can be Wild 🤪 . At times it comes with sleep deprivation, lack of eating/hydration, high cortisol levels, adrenaline rushes, quick thinking, late nights, early mornings, long days/night, and much more! Seeing a client use their indescribable God given strength & determination to meet their sweet baby & dads crying in awe is all worth it. I’m often reminded of why I do this work, especially when my heart is so full at watching & being a part of God’s work!

Sweet baby girl is here💕 This mama rocked her birth, & I couldn’t be more proud of her.

This perfect baby boy decided to come in the quiet & peaceful early morning! Mama labored so well at home & pulled up to hospital at 9 1/2 centimeters! We all made it just in time for her to push & birth a surprise baby boy 🩵! So honored to be doula a 2nd time with this sweet family.

Health care in the United States is increasingly team-based, and doulas—who often provide emotional, physical, and educational support for patients during birth, the postpartum period, and beyond—are valuable members of many care teams.

ACOG’s new clinical guidance encourages ob-gyn collaboration with doulas and gives ob-gyns the tools they need to better understand a doula’s role. It also highlights the importance of stronger partnerships between clinicians and doulas, which can provide vital support across the lifespan—including during and after pregnancy—and can lead to better patient outcomes.

Doula Baby #207 came into the world this morning @ 3:56am! 14 hours laboring with my client. I can’t wait til this mama shares her story. It brings so much Joy to my heart!
She labored for 24 all full of God & his angels filling the room.

A room of uncertainty

A room of hope

A room with a birth team determined to have a positive outcome

A room filled with Faith & knowing that God had the last say so!
God guided me & the nurses in doing all the moves to get a sweet baby here. I mean my body is definitely feeling all the work we put in, while helping this mama do hard work to meet her sweet baby girl! Dad was amazing support as well.

Building relationships & talking with providers can definitely contribute to them being willing to listen & to exhaust all things possible for a successful vaginal birth as long as mama & baby are safe. Ask all the questions! I truly believe that’s what happened during this birth. 🙌🏽🙏🏽👏🏽♥️
