Let’s talk about bioidentical hormones. 💙
The word “bioidentical” can sometimes be confusing. Bioidentical doesn’t automatically mean “natural,” safer, or better. It means the hormone is chemically identical to a hormone produced by the human body. In fact, FDA-approved bioidentical hormone medications already exist.
So, where can a 503A compounding pharmacy fit in?
It comes down to the individual patient.
Sometimes a provider determines hormone therapy is appropriate, but commercially available medications may not meet a patient’s specific needs. A patient may need a different strength or dosage form, or may be unable to tolerate a particular ingredient.
When clinically appropriate and permitted, our compounding pharmacists can work with the prescriber to evaluate a patient-specific formulation.
That’s what personalization means to us.
✨ Customized doesn’t automatically mean better.
✨ “Natural” doesn’t automatically mean safer.
✨ Compounded hormones aren’t automatically superior to FDA-approved options.
Personalized care means knowing when customization can help solve a patient-specific need.
At Scripx Compounding & Wellness Pharmacy, we work alongside patients and healthcare providers to help determine when personalized hormone compounding may have an appropriate role in care.
