What a powerful conversation today about teen mental health!! Thank you, Ignite Youth Movement, for bringing the amazing Alana Robertson and myself to the table! WHAT IS YOUR *PHYSICAL CONTACT* LIKE WITH YOUR SPOUSE?
Physical contact includes all forms of touch, categorized generally as sexual or nonsexual. In a strong marriage, there should be both; always offered and received with respect for one another.

Touch can increase emotional intimacy when it is done with a shared understanding of what helps each spouse feel safe and secure.

No form of harmful touch should ever exist in a marriage. It is never justified to hurt a spouse’s body. It can also be deeply painful when affectionate touch is neglected, or intentionally withheld without any effort made for communicating why and for seeking reconciliation.

Talk together about what forms of touch help you each feel connected.

Ready to build a stronger marriage by improving communication about touch with your spouse? Comment “touch” for support!

HOW DO YOU *LISTEN* TO YOUR SPOUSE?

Effective communication that builds strong marriages requires active listening skills. Practice listening without interrupting, looking at your phone or planning your rebuttal.

Your spouse will feel safe when he/she feels heard and truly listened to. This builds intimacy.

Listen with the intent to understand your spouse better, not just to defend yourself. Taking long, slow breaths as you listen helps to turn off your own threat response, keeping you more open and connected.

Maintain a boundary by letting your spouse know that the conversation will end if he/she shouts, belittles or criticizes. Commit to being respectful.

NOTE: If you are experiencing domestic violence or abuse, please seek professional help immediately! In East Texas, please contact the Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

HOW DO YOU *LOOK* AT YOUR SPOUSE?
Eye contact is a major part of communication. We can convey a great deal of meaning with our eyes. If we’re angry, our eyes will show it. If we’re delighted, our eyes will show it. If we avoid making eye contact, it can signal indifference or indignation.

Eye-rolling shows disrespect and impatience, and tends to inflame an already tense moment.

Consider the message that you want to send your spouse by the way you look at him/her.

Building a strong marriage includes using your eyes to be sincere, direct and open. Your spouse can quickly be put at ease by a friendly, steady gaze. Convey warmth at every greeting to establish your home as a safe zone.

Ready to build a stronger marriage by looking at your spouse in a better way?

Comment “look” for support!

NOTE: If you are experiencing domestic violence or abuse, please seek professional help immediately! In East Texas, please contact the Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

I had a great time at Nac in a Nutshell last night! I talked to hundreds of students and nearly lost my voice!

I loved meeting students and learning a little bit about them, then sharing with them my mission to help people lower their stress and anxiety by learning how to shift from limiting beliefs to supporting ones.

It’s a mindset + nervous system shift that brings relief, hope and confidence!

I invited students to enter to win a free stress-relief mini session using my Thought Cycle Diagram model!

72 students dropped an entry ticket!!🎟️

The winners are:
Avery T.
Kihanna W.
Jamie

Yay!! They will be contacted in order to schedule their FREE mini session!

I also loved catching up friends from other businesses, nonprofits and agencies!

Have a great year Lumberjacks! Axe ‘em!
