Practical wellness education, natural products & gentle support for the seasons of life. 🌿 Hello everyone!

I'm Kimberly, a lifelong seeker of truth and healing. My journey with Reiki began in my late twenties, and its profound impact led me back to it in 2017. Since then, I've become certified in Level 1 Holy Fire Reiki, and it transformed my life in the best possible way. I furthered my practice and achieved Master Level Holy Fire Reiki in 2018, expanding my skills into Level 2 Animal Reiki by 2021. I am passionate about helping people heal and find peace. Holy Fire Reiki offers a gentle, soothing energy that brings relaxation and a sense of calm that is often hard to find in today’s hectic world. Additionally, I have a special focus on supporting moms and babies, and I'm thrilled to offer "Mommy and Me" packages designed to nurture women through pregnancy and the postpartum phase. Though I have primarily practiced on friends, family, and fur babies until now, I am excited to announce the soft opening of my new business, Akeena Healing Pathways. I will be offering both distance and in-home Reiki services to bring the remarkable benefits of Reiki directly to you. I'm eager to share the positivity and healing it has brought to those around me. Stay tuned for more details, packages, and pricing coming soon!

A child doesn't always have the words to say:

“I'm overwhelmed.”

“I don't know what I'm supposed to do.”

“That was embarrassing.”

“I'm worried something bad might happen.”

“I'm tired and everything feels harder right now.”

Sometimes we get something entirely different.

“No!”

“I don't care!”

A meltdown.

Withdrawal.

Clinginess.

A bedroom door slam achieving approximately Mach 4. 😅

That doesn't mean every behavior should be excused.

Boundaries still matter.

But behavior can also give us information.

Sometimes it helps to ask two questions instead of only one:

**What does this child need to learn about this behavior?**

and

**What might this behavior be trying to tell me?**

We can hold a boundary **and** stay curious about what's underneath it.

Those two things can sit at the same table too. 🌿

Sometimes we're tired even when we've technically had enough sleep.

Because sleep isn't the only kind of rest we need.

Sometimes we're tired from making decisions.

From being available.

From answering questions.

From taking care of people.

From thinking three steps ahead.

From having seventeen browser tabs open in our brains while pretending we're only working in one. 😅

Sometimes what we need isn't necessarily a nap.

It might be ten quiet minutes.

A walk without a podcast.

Putting the phone somewhere else.

Letting someone else decide what's for dinner.

Sitting outside without accomplishing anything.

Or simply having a little while when nobody needs anything from us.

Rest doesn't always mean sleep.

Sometimes it's a break from being **“on.”**

And that counts too. 🌿

There are plenty of moments when we know something feels “off” long before we know exactly what to do about it.

That's where a simple check-in can help:

**NOTICE**
What am I experiencing right now?

**NEED**
What might help?

**NEXT**
What's one small thing I can do?

The next step doesn't have to solve the whole problem.

Maybe you notice you're exhausted and need rest.

Maybe you're unusually irritable and realize you haven't eaten.

Maybe something in your body has changed and the next step is making an appointment.

Or maybe what you actually need is ten minutes when nobody is asking you for anything. 😅

We don't always need an immediate answer.

Sometimes we just need enough awareness to choose the next helpful step.

**Notice. Need. Next.** 🌿

It's easy for the thing we're navigating to become the biggest thing in the room.

The sleepless nights.

The changing body.

The overwhelmed child.

The caregiving.

The stress.

The diagnosis, question, transition or season we didn't exactly volunteer for.

Those things deserve attention.

But they don't get to become the whole story.

**You are more than the thing you're navigating.**

That's part of what whole-person care means to me.

We can pay attention to symptoms without forgetting the person experiencing them.

We can look for evidence and still make room for lived experience.

We can learn what's happening without reducing someone to what's happening *to* them.

And we can offer practical support without pretending every difficult season needs a perfect solution.

Sometimes we need information.

Sometimes we need tools.

Sometimes we need professional support.

Sometimes we simply need enough understanding to know what our next step might be.

**Notice. Need. Next.**

That's the kind of space I want Akeena to be.

A place where evidence-informed education and whole-person care can sit at the same table. 🌿

Sometimes we move through the day so quickly that we don't notice what we need until we're already overwhelmed, exhausted or running on fumes.

Here's a simple check-in you can use almost anywhere:

**1. What am I noticing right now?**

Maybe it's tension in your shoulders. A racing mind. Irritability. Hunger. Fatigue. Feeling unusually emotional. Or simply, “I'm actually doing okay.”

**2. What might I need?**

Rest? Food? Movement? Quiet? Connection? Information? A few minutes alone? Help from someone else?

**3. What's one small thing I can do next?**

Not fix everything.

Just the next helpful thing.

Sometimes that's making an appointment.

Sometimes it's stepping outside for five minutes.

Sometimes it's drinking some water.

And sometimes it's deciding that whatever you're carrying can wait until tomorrow.

The goal isn't to perfectly interpret every signal your body or mind sends you.

It's simply to get a little better at noticing them. 🌿

**Notice. Get curious. Choose one next step.**

We're pretty good at trying to fix things.

A bad mood.
A hard day.
An uncomfortable feeling.
A problem someone we love brings to us.

Sometimes fixing is exactly what's needed.

But sometimes the first thing a person needs isn't a solution.

It's to be noticed.

To be heard.

To have someone stay curious long enough to understand what is actually happening.

And sometimes we need to offer that same space to ourselves.

Before jumping straight to **“How do I make this go away?”** we can ask:

**“What is happening here, and what might I need?”**

Noticing isn't doing nothing.

Listening isn't doing nothing.

Making room isn't doing nothing.

Sometimes those are the very things that help us understand what to do next. 🌿

Sometimes what looks like “bad behavior” is a child communicating something they don't yet have the words or skills to explain.

Tired can look like defiant.

Overwhelmed can look like angry.

Anxious can look like clingy.

Frustrated can look like “I DON'T CARE!” followed by a bedroom door closing at approximately Mach 4. 😅

That doesn't mean every behavior should be ignored or excused.

It means behavior can give us information.

Before asking only, **“How do I stop this behavior?”** it can help to also wonder:

**“What might this child be trying to communicate?”**

Children are still learning how to recognize what they're feeling, put words to it, regulate themselves and ask for what they need.

Sometimes the behavior is the message before they have the language. 🌿
