Any repetitive activity can lead to pain or injury if our body isn’t giving appropriate time to adapt. Building up swing volume slowly allows for this and taking some days off when feeling fatigued can lead to less injury breaks and more consistency in the long run.

Often, we can work around an injury through just temporarily reducing volume and avoiding completely taking time off the game. Now there are instances where a break is necessary, but I tried to keep people golfing whenever possible. During this time we can address issues that may be leading to pain and discomfot.

Idea of these is the maximize recruitment of your nervous system while also keeping volume low to manage fatigue to increase speed. Can do fast driver swings after the jumps as well but I’m planning on doing a speed session at the range later today.

Golfers take care of your body and play with less pain and improve performance. Managing both training load in the gym and swing volume is imperative to injury reduction in a repetitive sport.

Couple of exercises from my morning workout. Continue to focus on rate of force development in this phase as I’m trying to gain clubhead speed.

Speed training session at redhawk with a ball. Not ideal as I had just had a workout about 2 hours prior not enough time to recover so adjusted my reps a bit. Still able to get a 118 mph clubhead speed matching my best. See what a fresh session can do in the next few weeks.

Simple hip mobility routine to maintain flexibility. Hip mobility can be beneficial to a lot of things including athletic performance, golf, getting up and down off the floor, and helping pain in various areas. Just a few minutes 1-2 times a day can help.

Not much better than spending the morning hitting golf balls with the family!

When working with shoulder pain I typically try to reduce pain and restore motion first. As soon as able we start building strength through progressive loading. When you’ve built the capacity we can start to work on power/rate of force development because life isn’t slow controlled movements.

Only 1.5 weeks into my speed training and have already added 9 miles per hour club head speed. Much more than I was expecting this quick. Not playing much golf to this point has contributed as I was detrained giving me room to improve, but also switching phases in the weightroom to more rate of force development work, and intentional fast swings. I expect gains to be much harder from here on.
