A full house and a full day of learning! 🎉

Yesterday, our Simulation Center hosted a Simulation Faculty Development Course focused on simulation concepts, educational theory, and best practices. We were excited to bring together NCH team members and community partners from Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida SouthWestern State College, and Ave Maria University.

We were especially honored to welcome faculty leaders, including the Dean and Associate Dean from FSW, as we collaborated to strengthen simulation-based learning across our region. We also had a guest speaker from Florida Gulfcoast University Dr Joseph Buhain, Director of IPE present on IPE education!

Together, we’re building stronger educators, stronger teams, and ultimately better patient care.

Even our hospital’s favorite four-legged team member knows the importance of high-quality resuscitation training 🐾🚑

Today, our Medical Director/ICU physician took a “paws-on” approach to CPR practice with UBBIE, our beloved staff support animal and unofficial Simulation Center morale officer.

At the Simulation Center, we believe preparation, teamwork, and a little laughter go a long way in healthcare education.

Your NCH Simulation Center Team was hard at work early this morning to prepare for the HSS OR In situ mock code blue! In situ mock codes are an excellent way to identify latent safety threats! Because the simulation occurs in the actual clinical environment with the real team, equipment, workflows, and systems, it often reveals problems that would never be discovered in a classroom or simulation center.

One of the major strengths of in situ simulation is that it evaluates not only individual performance, but also:

* Systems
* Processes
* Human factors
* Team dynamics
* Environmental readiness

Your simulation team successfully hosted 22 of Ave Maria’s last semester nursing students through some intense, high fidelity pediatric crisis simulations training! 🌿 Safety in full bloom at NCH Judith and Marvin Herb Family Simulation Center in partnership with Botanical Gardens! 🌿

We had an incredible time partnering with the amazing Botanical Gardens team for a day (and then some!) of hands-on safety training, proving that learning lifesaving skills doesn’t have to be prickly 🌵

From hands-only CPR and choking response to fall safety, anaphylaxis awareness, and even navigating encounters with venomous snakes 🐍—our subject matter experts kept things interactive, engaging, and empowering for our non-clinical heroes.

Multiple sessions, diverse topics, and one shared goal: keeping people safe while they keep our community beautiful.

We’re so grateful for this collaboration and can’t wait to keep building safer spaces together! 💚

The NCH Judith & Marvin Herb Family Simulation Center team as well as other interprofessional roles and departments at NCH were celebrated by The Naples Players (TNP) at Sugden Theater. Our staff was honored, on stage, as "Community Heroes" alongside teachers, first responders and military service members. These individuals were recognized as those who show up for the community every day.

The Naples Players is committed to building community through exceptional access to the power of theater, and they have chosen extraordinary ways to execute this vision! Just one example of this is our ArtRX Program. This initiative is a unique collaboration between The Naples Players and NCH to promote healing, joy, and wellbeing within our community in times and spaces we need it most.
There are many aspects of this partnership some being: TNP participates as Standardized Patient actors in multidisciplinary training in our simulation center to enhance the realism of simulation scenarios we provide here for our staff to help improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
TNP also provide staff team building, public speaking and communication, and empathy based creative workshops for skill development amongst staff. This Community Theater has expressed that they are dedicated to providing a creative outlet for healthcare professionals at NCH!

We are appreciative of the partnership with this arts program that takes amazing talent and chooses to do even greater things with it. Our team felt truly honored to be esteemed as 'Heroes of our Community', and we are excited for the new opportunities this partnership will bring!
