The first thing I did when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease was reduce my toxin load.

There’s a reason I put the time and energy into making my own organic sourdough at home…

Because bread was never meant to be complicated.

Flour. Water. Salt.
That’s it.

Somewhere along the way, we took something so simple and turned it into a science experiment-filled with preservatives, additives, gums, and ingredients our bodies don’t recognize.

And then we wonder why so many people feel bloated, inflamed, and disconnected from food.

But real sourdough? It’s different.

It’s slow.
It’s alive.
It’s intentional.

The long fermentation process helps break down gluten, making it easier to digest and more nourishing for your body. It’s bread the way it was made for generations-before convenience replaced quality.

For me, it’s not just about bread…
It’s about going back to the basics.
It’s about trusting the process.
It’s about feeding my family something I know is real.

Yes, it takes more time.
Yes, it requires patience.

But healing often does.

It’s amazing to watch how science is slowly catching up to what God has been saying all along.

The Bible has always pointed to the power of our thoughts and our words-and now, modern research is confirming just how deeply our mind and body are connected.

“You are what you think” isn’t just a trendy phrase… it’s truth.

At Harvard Medical School, researchers in the field of Psychoneuroimmunology have studied how our thoughts and words impact the body.

In one study, participants spoke directly to their bodies each day:
“You are safe.”
“You are healing.”
“You did well today.”

After just two weeks, there were measurable reductions in inflammation markers.

Let that sink in.

Your body is listening.
Your nervous system is responding.
Your cells are paying attention.

Now read this through the lens of Scripture:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” – Proverbs 18:21

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” – Proverbs 17:22

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2

God designed your body to respond to peace, to truth, to safety.

This doesn’t mean we ignore reality or pretend everything is perfect.
It means we choose to partner with truth instead of fear.

Instead of saying:
“My body is broken.”

We begin to say:
“My body is working for me.”
“Healing is possible.”
“God is restoring me.”

Science is now showing what Scripture has always known:
Your thoughts can either create an environment for healing… or for harm.

So speak life.
Think truth.
Align your mind with what God says about you.

Healing isn’t just physical-it starts in the mind, flows through the body, and is anchored in faith.

Pause.

Your body was designed to heal-
but not in constant stress, noise, and overload.

We’ve been taught that healing means doing more:
more supplements
more protocols
more spending

But real healing often looks like this:

Sunlight on your skin
Fresh air in your lungs
Bare feet on the ground
Slow movement
A regulated nervous system
A quieter, simpler life

Less pressure
Less toxins
Less overwhelm

Healing doesn’t have to be complicated.
And it doesn’t have to be expensive.

Sometimes… it starts by coming back to what your body has always needed.

The truth about “non-toxic” clothing…

Finding completely non-toxic clothing is really hard. Between dyes, processing, and supply chains, “perfect” doesn’t really exist.

So instead of chasing perfection, I focus on low-tox choices-and that’s more realistic (and sustainable long-term).

What I look for:
• Natural fibers (organic when possible)
• Fewer chemicals in processing
• Simple, undyed or low-impact dyed pieces

What I try to avoid (when I can):
• Polyester
• Nylon
• Acrylic
• Rayon/viscose (heavily processed)
• “Performance” fabrics with chemical finishes

These materials are often petroleum-based and can shed microplastics or contain chemical residues.

Brands I personally like:
• Pact
• Blue Canoe
• ZLEurope
• Quince
• Tasc

Not perfect-but better options that move the needle.

At the end of the day, this isn’t about fear-it’s about reducing your overall load where you can 🤍

I wouldn’t wish Crohn’s disease on anyone. The physical pain, the discomfort, the exhaustion… it’s been one of the hardest things I’ve ever walked through.

But it also forced me to slow down.
To listen.
To pay attention.

It revealed things I didn’t even realize were there-unhealed trauma, unhealthy thought patterns, disordered eating habits, generational strongholds, and even relationships that needed to be reevaluated.

It stripped me down in the most uncomfortable way… but it also rebuilt me.

Not just physically-but emotionally and spiritually.

In the middle of my weakness, I learned how to rely on God in a way I never had before. Not just when it was convenient, but when I truly had nothing left.

And that changed everything.

If you’re walking through any kind of dis-ease right now - physical, emotional, or spiritual-don’t waste it.

Lean in.
Get curious.
Ask what it’s trying to reveal.

There is growth in this.
There is purpose in this.
And there is healing available-not just for your body, but for your whole life.

Sometimes the very thing breaking you… is also what’s building you.

If you let it.

Healing is not linear.

I’ve had seasons where I felt like I was moving forward so much… while somehow also taking steps back at the same time. It can feel confusing, frustrating, and discouraging.

But healing isn’t a straight line-it’s layered. There is growth happening even in the setbacks.

Don’t be discouraged by the hard days. They don’t erase your progress-they’re often part of it.

Have faith-faith in your body and its incredible, God-designed ability to heal. And even deeper, have faith in God as the ultimate healer.

Trust the process. Trust what’s unfolding.

Because without faith, healing can feel impossible. But with it, even the setbacks have purpose.

The truth about low-tox living…

It doesn’t happen overnight.
And honestly? It’s not supposed to.

When I first started, I felt overwhelmed trying to change everything at once.
That’s actually why I wrote my book—so you don’t have to figure it all out alone (link in bio 🤍)

Start small. Stay consistent. It adds up.

Some of my non-negotiables now:
• Shoes off in the house
• Filtered water (this is a big one)
• Linen bedding & sheets
• Air filtration (I use AirDoctor)
• Cotton & linen clothing
• Clean body + cleaning products
• Glass over plastic
• Stainless steel cookware
• Metal & wood utensils
• Non-toxic toilet paper (yes… and it’s worth it)

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about reducing your toxic load one simple swap at a time.

Save this as your reminder: you don’t have to do everything—just start somewhere.

Your home environment plays a bigger role in your health than many people realize. Reducing everyday toxin exposure in the household can be a powerful step toward supporting healing and overall well-being.

One simple place to start is with candles.

I LOVE candles and the cozy atmosphere they create, but I’m very mindful about what I burn in my home. Many conventional candles are made with paraffin wax and synthetic fragrances that can release unwanted chemicals into the air.

Instead, choose 100% beeswax candles with a cotton or wood wick. They burn cleaner and are a better option for creating a warm, inviting space without adding unnecessary toxins to your home.

Most bread on store shelves is ultra-processed, made with seed oils, unnecessary fillers, and grain that’s often sprayed with glyphosate long before it reaches your plate. That’s not food our bodies recognize—it’s survival calories.

So no, I didn’t “quit carbs.”
I chose better bread.

Whenever possible, choose organic and unbleached flour. I personally love Einkorn or European wheat—older varieties that tend to be gentler, more nutrient-dense, and easier for many people to digest.

Either:
• Join the fresh-milling club (it truly takes ~5 extra minutes), or
• Hit your local farmers market and look for bread with simple ingredients and real nutrition.

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about choosing food that supports healing instead of inflammation.

Old-school? Maybe.
Worth it? Absolutely.
