Try a “name it to tame it” check-in.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, pause and simply label what’s happening: “I’m feeling anxious,” “I’m overstimulated,” or “I’m tense right now.”

Research in affect labeling shows that putting emotions into words can reduce activity in the brain’s threat response system (the amygdala) and increase regulation in the prefrontal cortex; helping you feel more in control of the emotion, rather than consumed by it.

No fixing needed in the moment. Just noticing and naming. 🌿

What's up with humming?!?

Research shows that humming, singing, and slow deep breathing can help stimulate the vagus nerve: one of the body’s main communication pathways between the brain and nervous system.

When the vagus nerve is activated, it can help shift the body out of “fight or flight” mode and into a calmer, more regulated state. This may help slow heart rate, reduce stress hormones, and promote relaxation.

Simple habits like humming your favorite song, taking slow breaths, or even gentle chanting can have a real physiological effect on stress and anxiety levels. 🌿
