It's the most wasteful time of the year – October, November and December. I'm not against decorating and having fun, but now I know better and think/shop/decorate more thoughtfully. Instead of plastic pumpkins, grab a real one and then either compost or donate to a farm to feed animals. Make bats out of construction paper, ghosts out of old sheets, and our favorite? We make scary figures using old clothes we stuff with newspaper and sit them around the porch...creepy (but fun!). Make your costumes, or swap with friends. And hang on to the candy wrappers – we will be taking those again this year.

We're having ANOTHER Anti–Amazon Prime Day Sale over here.

There’s no guilt in the occasional Amazon purchase – we all do it. But so many small businesses are struggling – inflation, tariffs and rent are really putting the pressure on us all. Large businesses like Amazon may be able to absorb some of these higher costs, but small businesses can't. So we encourage you to have an "Anti-Amazon Prime Day" and shop local. Need a book? Head to your local book store! Need some gifts? Check out a small gift shop in your town. And of course, if looking for refills or eco-friendly products, look for a local refill shop. They are all over the country so do a quick google search to see if one is close by.

🥒 Tennessee Food Waste Prevention Week is September 28th-October 4th. 🍎

Did you know food waste is the largest component of landfills making up almost 25%?!! This is why it's so important to try our best to limit the amount of food waste we produce.

Some ideas:

• Buy only what you need, and often that means purchasing single items rather than prebagged (bonus, you skip the plastic bag).

• Compost when possible or freeze veggie scraps for broth and fruit for smoothies.

• Extend the life of your fresh produce by using bags like our –– you will be AMAZED how long this helps your produce last!
