On October 27, our Clinic Director, Laura Batts, had the pleasure of presenting at Fifty Forward, a senior center in Donelson dedicated to helping adults 50+ live healthier, more active lives through educational programs, wellness events, and community resources. She shared an informative session on the anatomy of the inner ear and common balance disorders.
If you’ve ever wondered what to expect during a vestibular evaluation, here’s a quick overview:
Your therapist will review your medical history and symptoms.
Simple balance and movement tests help identify areas of concern.
Together, you’ll set goals tailored to your needs.
How vestibular physical therapy helps:
✅ Reduces fall risk
✅ Improves posture and strength
✅ Supports your ability to stay active and enjoy life
You’ll also learn practical tips you can do at home to help your balance and stability, such as:
Practicing simple balance exercises while standing or walking
Strengthening core and leg muscles
Using techniques to focus your gaze and maintain orientation
Working with a vestibular PT isn’t just about treatment, it’s about giving you confidence, independence, and the ability to love your life without fear of falling.
