Two things we hear from families before they schedule an appointment with us.

"I think my insurance covers therapy, but we need an evaluation first."
or
"I don't know if my insurance covers an autism evaluation."

Here is what we tell them: there are resources β€” let us help you find out.

Most private insurance plans β€” and state Medicaid programs β€” do cover therapy and support services for children with a formal autism diagnosis.

The two barriers families actually face:
1. They don't realize their insurance covers it.
2. They don't yet have the formal diagnosis needed to unlock that coverage.

The evaluation is the key that opens the door. And evaluations are often covered too.

If you've been putting off an evaluation because of cost β€” there is information you deserve to have first.

Most autism journeys start the same way.

A parent notices something. A gut feeling. A behavior that doesn't match the milestone chart. A moment where you think β€” "something is different here."

And then you take that feeling into a system that tells you to wait.

You are not wrong for noticing. You are not overreacting for asking. You are not being dramatic for wanting answers.

You know your child better than anyone in that exam room. Trust that instinct. 🧑

If you're wondering what to look for β€” or what comes next β€” we have a resource for you at the link in bio.

"Early intervention" gets mentioned a lot. But what does it actually mean?

Simply put β€” it's support for young children during the years when development is moving the fastest. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, developmental therapy, play-based support.

It looks different for every child.

If you've been hearing the term and wondering what it means for your family β€” now you know.

When did you first start noticing something might be a little different?

For some families it was at 12 months. For others it wasn't until preschool. Some parents knew before anyone else believed them.

There's no wrong answer and there's no timeline that means you missed your window.

Share your story below if you're comfortable. Your experience might be exactly what another parent needs to read today. πŸ‘‡
