Those parenthesis-like lines that form on either side of the mouth are a common concern we hear about. Patients often come in asking for filler in those lines, but as Dr. Biesman explains, the folds themselves aren’t usually the root of the problem. They typically develop as the cheeks lose structural support and descend over time. The most effective approach starts with restoring support higher in the face (surgically or non-surgically, depending on the patient), then using a small amount of filler in the lines themselves.
