Not every massage is supposed to hurt. 👏

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is:
“If it doesn’t hurt, it’s not working.”

The truth is, effective massage is about working WITH the body, not fighting against it. Sometimes deep pressure is helpful. Sometimes slow, focused, intentional work creates the biggest results.

Different bodies need different approaches and that is why finding the right therapist for YOU matters so much.

On this day, 12 years ago, Donelson Massage Center opened its doors to the public.

It is hard to put into words what this day means to me. Over the years, we have relocated three different times, and each move became an upgrade that helped us grow into the company we are today.

In 2016, we were forced to relocate after our building caught fire. I hope this does not offend anyone, but I cannot help but give credit where credit is due. I thank God that we were able to find a new place on the third day and reopen our doors so we could continue serving our clients and caring for our team.

Then came 2020. COVID shut us down with no certainty of when we would be allowed to reopen. Week after week, everything felt uncertain. We grieved for so many loved ones. One out of four small businesses in America closed their doors permanently that year . We had to learn, relearn, adjust, rebuild, and keep moving forward with faith.

But there is something very special about this 12th year.

This year feels different. It feels like God has placed a spirit of peace, unity, harmony, and growth over DMC. I feel it deeply, and I am incredibly thankful.

To the town of Donelson and the greater Nashville community, thank you! You have supported us, believed in us, and allowed us to become a small but meaningful part of this community.

Over the years, we have had the honor of leading and working with more than 375 licensed massage therapists. For many, DMC was a starting point in their career, and it has been a blessing to watch so many people grow, learn, and step into their calling.

We could not have done any of this without our amazing clients. You have supported us through every season. You have brought us cookies, soup, Christmas gifts, kind words, encouragement, and so much love. Those things may seem small, but they have meant more to us than you will ever know.

Today, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

Grateful for our clients.
Grateful for our city.
Grateful for my family.
Grateful for my God.
Grateful for every person who has been part of this journey.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is one of the gentlest forms of bodywork, but many people are surprised by how powerful it can feel afterward.

The lymphatic system is part of the body’s natural drainage and immune support system. Unlike the circulatory system, it does not have a pump like the heart, so movement, hydration, and muscle activity help keep lymph fluid flowing properly.

Lymphatic drainage massage uses slow, light, rhythmic techniques designed to encourage that natural movement of fluid through the body. This style of massage is very different from deep tissue or traditional pressure-based massage. More pressure is not better with this technique.

Did you know your brain can’t actually feel pain? 🧠

The brain itself has no pain receptors. That means surgeons can perform certain brain surgeries while a patient is awake!

Your HEAD can hurt, but your brain is basically sitting there like:
