Our hearts are heavy following the news out of Jamestown, Ohio, where 15-year-old Chloe Walker sustained severe burns during a school science experiment.

No student, family, or educator should ever have to experience the physical and emotional trauma of a classroom accident. The entire team at the Laboratory Safety Institute sends our deepest thoughts, prayers, and strength to Chloe, her family, her classmates, and the Greeneview High School community as she begins her long road to recovery.

Moments like this are a painful reminder of why we do the work we do. Science education should be a space for curiosity, inspiration, and growth—and above all, it must be safe.
