Special Session at Camp McDowell Special Session includes a Summer Camp and Fall Retreat (Unbound) program for adults with a wide range of abilities. At Camp, Everyone Belongs.

We are a ministry of Camp McDowell in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. Special Session is a summer camp program for people of abilities, staffed by youth volunteers.

Happy 4th of July from your friends at Special Session! When we held camp “down the hill” at Camp McDowell we held our session over the 4th of July holiday and celebrated BIG with BBQ from Charlie Erwin, had a parade in front of Eppes Hall, and ended with a fun-filled sing along in the Rec Hall! Enjoy looking through some of these memories and remember that everyone belongs at Special Session!

Bethany’s Kids just wrapped up with days full of joy, love and inclusion. We made new friends, learned about Jospeh and his coat of many colors, danced, shared our talents, fished, visited the farm, canoed, swam and enjoyed playing in God’s Backyard. We all entered camp as acquaintances and left as friends. Bethany’s Kids showed us that we are all more alike than different and that our labels do not define us and we are each made perfectly and beautifully by God.
