Well, that’s all she wrote for this chapter. I’ll have my last session this week on camping chairs, and then I’ll officially be done with this space.

Along with feeling sadness and shame, I feel a lot of frustration. I had so much hope that the people in the education community who hold the power to make decisions would get on board with valuing the wellbeing of their educators. Because they were not, with the exception of Negaunee Public Schools, I am financially unable to continue to rent this space.

While my physical space will be gone, I am not going anywhere. I’ve got some big ideas for what the future holds, but for now, if you need support, we’ll have to be creative in finding a place to meet.

All my gratitude for those of you who took a chance on me and this idea.

🫶 I asked, and you all showed up!

📈 With nearly 80 responses to our educator survey, I was able to bring some powerful data to my recent presentation with our local AAUW chapter.

🙌 What an incredible group of women. With many in the room having served in education in some capacity, we spent about an hour and a half having an awesome conversation about the current climate in education and the factors that have led to so many changes in the field.

⏳There’s still time to take the survey! I’ll be keeping it open for one more week before sharing the results.

Thank you again to AAUW for the invitation and for the opportunity to speak with such an inspiring group of women leaders in our community.

Life has a funny way of pivoting when you least expect it.

Over the past two years of supporting educators in my office and working (and failing) to expand my services into the broader education system, I’ve had conversations that have opened my eyes to some deep systemic cracks. I always knew they were there, but I never fully understood the extent of them until I started doing this work.

Lately, it’s become clear to me that it’s time to step beyond the safety of the four walls of my office. And the timing feels right. As my business begins to slow down for the season and our family prepares for my husband to leave for a year-long deployment, I feel pulled toward something bigger.

But before taking the next step, I want to understand what’s actually true.

Have I just been projecting my own concerns… or are other educators feeling this too?
