🔐 Safe Storage Is One Part of Keeping Kids Safe

When it comes to keeping kids safe, how fi****ms are stored matters.

The Marquette County Health Department is currently recruiting participants for the Store Safely research study, testing an online safe storage program developed right here in the U.P. for families with children.

We are looking for parents or guardians who live in the U.P., have children ages 0–17, and have at least one firearm in the home or on their property.

✅ Participants need regular access to the internet and an electronic device.
💵 Those who participate may receive up to $170 for completing study surveys.

Your participation can help us learn what works best for U.P. families and support efforts to keep children and teens safe.

💉 Why are vaccines recommended at specific ages?

Vaccines are recommended at certain ages because that's when they provide the best protection and help prevent diseases when children and teens are most likely to be at risk.

The Child & Adolescent Immunization Schedule can help you see which vaccines are recommended from birth through age 18 and whether your child is on track.

🎉 Great news for Michigan families!

The Michigan WIC Program has increased its income guidelines, which means more families may now qualify for WIC benefits.

If you receive Medicaid, SNAP benefits, or cash assistance, you are automatically income eligible for WIC. Even if you haven't qualified in the past, it's worth checking again under the updated guidelines.

At the Marquette County Health Department, WIC serves:
• Pregnant individuals
• Postpartum individuals (up to 6 months)
• Breastfeeding individuals (up to 1 year postpartum)
• Infants and children from birth to age 5

📅 Clinic Hours: Tuesday–Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:
🎓 Master's Degree in Social Work or related human services field
💼 One (1) year of direct clinical experience (adolescents preferred)
🩺 Licensed mental health clinician in Michigan

💼 Pay Range: $33.35–$40.69 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit package.
