Let's return to the study of Yoga Philosophy through the Eight Limbs by addressing Yoga Asana. An aspect of yoga that is meant for spiritual awakening yet has been boxed into a physical workout in its expansion to the west. And although the physical benefits are real, the true purpose of experiencing movement of the body with the breath and inner observation, is a path to awakening your soul alignment in this lifetime.

Hatha Yoga is also known as the yoga of effort. And it is through the effort that we learn to respond with more grace and less reactivity when challenges appears. Asana teaches us to let go of expectation, comparison and judgment while sinking into curiosity, truth and acceptance.

I like to invite the students in my classes to view Yoga as “an individual practice in a group setting,” thus allowing our choices to be ultimately guided from the inside out and awakening to appear organically from your own heart.

Read more in my latest blog and reflect on what may be awakening.

Seeing so many of you participating in my 100 Squats-a-Day video truly warms my heart. I wanted to tap in and let you know how it’s going for me, and I’d love to hear how it’s going for you as well. Send me your updates!

This whole experience awakened another realization. I haven’t really been working out as hard as I used to in decades past. Back then, muscle soreness was simply part of building strength and endurance. I welcomed it. Lately, I haven’t allowed myself much discomfort. Could I be getting a little too comfortable in my "old age"? There’s a fine line between not doing enough, healthy challenges, and overdoing it. What’s truly needed is attentive listening. Listening to intuition rather than just pushing through or, even worse, quitting altogether.

My intention is to live by that rule in more ways than one. I'm still learning. How human of me!

May you be well and stand strong on your own two feet.

Settling into Tres Casitas for the next 6 weeks to pack it up. Feeling a bit of overwhelm, I tuned into my own video after seeing so many of you who signed up. I wanted to be in your shoes albeit barefoot. And I needed a kick in the butt. Strength work is a huge motivator and attitude changer. Got my b***y in gear in more ways than one! This week as I pack my bags to journey north to the States, it’s a whole different perspective as I reverse my pattern. Now storing my belongings here in Costa Rica, preparing for a visit rather than a return to California and Montana.

The next two months involves more downsizing as I give up my sweet Tres Casitas home in Nevada City, storing whatever I decide I can’t part with, and then visiting Montana for a month of play.

Come August I’ll return south, calling Costa Rica homebase. The transition is real though still temporary. The future remains a mystery.

What remains certain is my desire to share self-care with you. No matter where I am, there’s always the dedication to movement, meditation, and prayer.

There’s something strangely beautiful about realizing how little we truly need. A few bins. A suitcase. A handful of meaningful things. And the memories, lessons, and love we carry within us wherever we go.
