Wednesday morning update: I spoke with Emma, same nurse from a couple of weeks ago. Emma said, “She is not doing too well, I can’t get her to open her eyes or follow commands.” But this is not her doing worse, just different from when Emma saw her a few weeks ago and was following commands for her. Emma thinks that Mom possibly has anoxic memory from Covid, but said that Mom would have to have an MRI to determine that diagnosis. I looked this up and it is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. Emma said that she hopes the neurologist can see her today and get an MRI ordered. Mom is still at 70% oxygen and is stable. Blood work from early this morning is all good. Hemoglobin is 9.4, kidneys are stable, electrolytes are good, and blood gas is good. Emma stated that she wanted to try and get my Mom off the sedation. Emma said, “she is honestly not on that much Presedex, so would like to see how she does without it.”
I will see my Mom this evening, but probably won’t be able to give an update until I can get home. Thanks for the continued prayers and positive thoughts! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
