Chiropractors adjust any or all of the 300 joints of the body, more particularly those of the spinal column.
Since chiropractic's inception, the "medical" establishment refuses to believe the possibility of vertebral disrelationship and the feasibility of adjusting by hand, such a misalignment. If a "doc" is "tolerant" of chiropractic they most likely do not subscribe to the likelihood of vertebral distortion interfering with neural transmission which create functional aberration in visceral structures as a consequence.
Chiropractic was born as a means of relieving suffering and disease. It was a time of great expansion of the U.S. at a rapid pace. Doctors were needed outside of the cities as people settled across this great nation. Medical diploma mills popped up everywhere and "medical doctors" were more like quacks and snake oil salesmen. Interesting enough "they" still think of chiropractors as such. They refuse to understand how the mechanism by which chiropractic methods bring relief to a suffering humanity. How does the adjustive thrust of chiropractic so profoundly influence our body's function?
The medical platform has become one of sickness, disease, and after-care. The basis of chiropractic remains a mechanism of health restoration and prophylactic care.
Any theory, based upon facts proves as useful for one chiropractor as another. The nervous system acts upon a single set of laws. Knowledge of those laws explain the effectiveness of the varied methods of application of the basic principles of chiropractic. Each chiropractor may create, or modify, their methods and each technique be effective, providing it is the application of a true principal. All techniques which apply the principles of chiropractic, produce results. Structural distortion causes interference to normal nerve transmission and results in the symptoms and tissues changes of disease. Remove the interference, allow optimal nerve transmission, symptoms subside, tissues change and the body is at ease and begins to heal.
