PEPTIDES: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY
Not all peptides are created equal.
While some peptides may be legally produced by licensed compounding pharmacies under specific FDA regulations, many popular peptides are NOT FDA-approved and may not be legally compounded or sold for human use. The FDA continues to review which peptides may be compounded and which should remain restricted.
Before starting any peptide therapy, ask these important questions:
✔ Where is the peptide manufactured?
✔ Is it coming from a licensed 503A or 503B pharmacy?
✔ Can they provide a copy of their pharmacy license?
✔ Is the ingredient sourced from an FDA-registered facility with a Certificate of Analysis?
✔ Why are they able to provide that peptide if it is not currently approved for compounding?
✔ Who is medically supervising your treatment?
Many peptides sold online or through unlicensed sources may be labeled "research use only" and are not intended for human administration. Quality, purity, sterility, dosing accuracy, and safety may be unknown. FDA and medical experts have raised concerns regarding contamination, mislabeling, and potential health risks associated with unregulated peptide products.
Remember:
• Not everyone is a candidate for peptide therapy.
• Certain medical conditions, medications, and supplements may increase risks.
• Potential side effects vary by peptide and may include injection site reactions, gastrointestinal symptoms, hormonal effects, allergic reactions, and medication interactions.
• Some peptides have very limited human safety data.
Your health deserves more than a social media recommendation.
