Job opportunity:

I’d like to get the AAPC to send this posting for an engagement I’m assisting with for ED Coding. The client has an aggressive implementation plan and we’ve been working with them to develop client specific training materials and screen resources for the implementation, which is fully remote.



Applicant MUST have a CPC or CPC-A credential
Reliable internet connectivity
Dual monitors
Applicant must have own coding materials
Client uses EPIC
Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours w/week if part-time (up to 30hrs)
Standard 40 hour work week for full-time



Pay is DOE but here is where we’re are at:
For CPC-A, the client is firm at $18.00 hourly.

**CPC-A will be reviewed after 90 days for pay increase to $20 in the ramp up plan.

For an experienced coder w/CPC - $20 - $22 hourly
For experienced coder with ED experience they are at $22-25 per hour.



Hours are extremely flexible, with weekend hours available
Payment is on a 1099
Expected Coding turn-around time is 48 hours
Onboarding takes a full 2 weeks with a couple of block trainings needed during day time hours (2-4 hours) for access.

Otherwise training times/dates are flexible with weekend options available.

This is a full-time position that requires medical billing certification and experience with lab billing. The schedule is to be coordinated with the office manager in Irvine, California, but is flexible and all work can be performed remotely.
Job Description
In addition to demonstrating technical proficiency, the coder is expected to consistently represent our company's commitment to superior customer service in all dealings with clients.
The coder will be expected to have the ability to perform the following duties:
• Review medical records and correctly assign codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Process insurance claims to ensure accurate coding & reimbursement
• Ensure current and appropriate coding guidelines are maintained
• Review appropriateness of codes billed when reviewing medical records disputes
• Respond to questions submitted to the coding support mailbox
• Provide code guidance based on Medicare, Medi-Cal and national standards of billing protocol
• Implement coding changes from annual updates to ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Perform medical chart audits for Evaluation and Management and ICD-10 coding and documentation. Disseminate audit results to clinicians and management
• Identify improvement opportunities in physician documentation and provide training
• Educate clinicians on specific coding issues found in audits
• Submit and follow up on query forms to clinicians based on inferred chart audit data
• Submit weekly audit totals to coding management
• Perform claims analysis for appropriate CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Identify CPT unbundling in claim submissions
• Additional duties as requested

Qualifications
• Certified in medical billing
• 3+ years of coding for laboratories
• Bachelor's degree is a plus, but not required
Compensation
Pay range for this position is $20-30 per hour, with the potential of an increase for extensive lab billing experience.
