Happy June!

For the list of favorites of last month we have some old & some new.
-First up, some supplements we have been loving recently! Butyrate has gotten some love this month with a few GI map protocols. We love our gut health patients!!!!!!! And Teresa loves some butyrate. Another Teresa favorite has been Perfect Aminos. I swear if you’ve had an appointment in the last month you’ve heard her say this one. (Just an fyi these are for certain patients only, don’t go buying these without chatting with her first) 💊
-SUNSHINE is here to stay as summer is full speed ahead over here!!!!! ☀️
-Honoring a sleep schedule. Teresa is really good at this. If it’s past her bedtime she won’t be there. If it’s a 6 am flight catch her on the next plane out. She listens to her body’s needs and honors it by sleeping when it needs rest. 🥱
-A deep dive into gut health! Teresa is back on her own protocol and live laugh loving it! (Sorta) 💚
-Diversity in foods! From fiber to healthy fats to proteins to carbs and diversifying in color throughout there is a lot of variety coming in these days!!! 🥦

Seeeeee ya next month with another round up! That’s all for now folks!

We get a looooooooot of questions about peptide therapy. And we are honestly so grateful you ask us versus the internet 🤪. There is a lot out in the media and it’s ALWAYS best to seek out medical advice from actual medical professionals who are trained and studying the literature like it’s their job (because it is). The risk of seeking out peptides from people who don’t have the training or expertise is you’re going in blind. You don’t have the support you need, the work up you need, the tailored dosing you need. You get some guesses in a syringe and a “hope for the best” attitude.

If you’re interested in peptides, we’d love to talk about it! Because we know the safety data, we are following the regulations, and we have the medical training to understand how to use them for best results. So if we say something isn’t a good fit, you may want to hear our why. ✨

Something so simple can actually make a large impact on your overall health and wellbeing. ☀️

Why morning sunlight matters?
-It impacts your circadian rhythm triggering a healthy rise in cortisol and a natural kick start to your day increasing alertness and mental clarity
-It can actually impact your sleep later that night by the ways it regulates your circadian rhythm and teaches your body to sleep and wake at consistent times
-It can increase your immune system by the ways it helps lower negative stress levels and increase regulation within the body
-It improves mood and cognition throughout your day
-It can help calm the nervous system

Who would’ve thought stepping outside within the first hour of waking could actually do so much? Remember to sit in the natural sunlight (not just through the window) for a minimum of 5 minutes but even up to 20-30 would be better! Grab your breakfast, your coffee, a book, whatever you want! Or even go for a morning walk! Creating a routine of natural light in the mornings can really change the game!

PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) has officially been renamed to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. This is a WILD move for Women’s Health and we are so excited about it!

Why does this actually matter?
-So many women struggle for years without a diagnosis simply because doctors weren’t checking the right labs or listening for the right symptoms. Many doctors would dismiss the diagnosis if your ultrasound was clear and cysts weren’t involved.
-What changes now is the realization that majority of women with this condition don’t even have cysts!!!! Instead, this new name highlights the reality of the syndrome, which is that it drastically impacts metabolic, endocrine, and reproductive health. Symptoms like insulin resistance, weight gain, missed periods, and infertility are now making their rightful way into the diagnosis.
-This matters because it means the title more accurately represents the condition. Therefore, the hope is less girls will walk away from a doctor’s visit still struggling with no diagnosis or corrective care.

What we check already and why many functional/integrative medical practices were ahead of the curve…
-HOMA/IR ratio (insulin resistance)
-Total and Free testosterone
-SHBG
-DHEA-S
-Progesterone
-and more

This syndrome is a WHOLE BODY syndrome! And now the name more accurately represents that.

What change should be next in Women’s Health? 👀🫢

A helpful guide to eating a balanced diet for your gut. Eat the rainbow! Many adults don’t come close to eating foods from each color group every week. Something as simple as shifting your focus before you go grocery shopping can actually help you incorporate more variety into your meals. And it’s honestly easier than you think! The next time you are out shopping for produce, try to pick something up from each color group. The more variety in colors, the more diversity you are introducing to your gut microbiome. And by that I mean, your gut actually benefits from eating more colorful foods! Just not the processed dyed ones. 🤪 Stick to the whole food sources. And don’t forget spices count too!!!

For the parents out there — make it a game with your kids to see how many colors you can eat in one day! Starting variety at a young age is so beneficial to developing your child’s gut microbiome and helping them learn that nutrition can actually help their bodies grow and move better! Nutrition actually changes the game. The gut plays a large role in mood regulation, immune function, skin clarity, muscle development, mental stability, and so much more! Your child that struggles to pay attention in class, has random skin rashes, and a tummy ache when they eat may actually just need a shift in their diet! So it’s not just for us adults, kids need variety and color too! Every color offers different nutritional value and helps develop a balanced gut. Plus it’s fun!

No but actually how is it May????? Let’s jump back to April for a second and reflect on some of Teresa’s favorite healthy habits for the month.

-Electrolytes! Made the list again who is surprised? Specifically this month it’s the pink lemonade LMNT. Tastes like summer ☀️
-Speaking life and healing over our bodies! Your mind and body work together. Sometimes the thought patterns need to shift to really work with your body instead of against it. Let’s be gentle and kind to our bodies with our words, they’ve gotten us through so much! 🫶🏻
-FIBER. Really enjoying the focus fiber is getting and deserves. Your meal can’t just be protein all the time. You have to support your gut microbiome with diversity in your diet! Your gut will thank you. 🥦
-After lunch walks are a habit that will never die. This is such a simple and helpful trick for blood sugar regulation. Walking after a meal shoves that glucose you just consumed into the muscles to be used. It’s wild how much this can help. 💪🏼
-Decreasing plastic exposure. This one takes time and effort but it really is worth investigating. There is plastic actually everywhere so it takes some creativity. Plastic is disruptive to your hormones and can cause inflammation, chronic illness, and so much more. 😵‍💫

Just to clarify some things……🫢

Technology is great and the internet is helpful, but at the end of the day you can’t take the word of AI over a trained professional. Still do your research and ask your questions, but trust the knowledge and expertise that you came to in the first place. We all do it, the late night google searches and symptom checkers, but you can’t replace experience and proficiency with a computer.
