🧹 Spring Cleaning, but the Mental Kind!
Well, it’s that time of the year. Bins are pulled out of storage and winter clothes are tucked away for the coming summer months and we might be noticing ALL the things we’ve “just set somewhere” - intending to find a place for them at that tempting and elusive time of “later.” It’s so very easy for us to accumulate “stuff” without even thinking about it. Over time, it can be hard to let go of what is no longer serving us, or to even look at the mess. Sometimes items are nostalgic or hold sentimental value, while other times we wonder if we would regret getting rid of it in the future. Or maybe it just takes too much energy to even THINK about tackling the chaos. We can do the same thing to our mental and emotional baggage too, if we don’t take the time to do some “mental spring cleaning.”
Taking time to recenter and re-order our minds and bodies is a longstanding practice across human history and many cultures. Focusing on breathwork, little rituals, and intentional practices like journaling and setting mini-goals are all examples of ways we can help our minds and spirits move from chaos to a little more order and inner calm.
