I find this information quite terrifying and important that we all are aware!
What is AI Doing With Your Medical Information??
FALSIFYING IT!
An analysis of doctors’ visits by actors posing as patients showed that out of 105 visits, there were a total of 636 documentation errors. What?!
105 patient visits → 636 documentation errors
Of those documentation errors:
🔴 181 errors of commission - Information was documented that was incorrect.
🟠 455 errors of omission - Important information was left out.
And here’s the part that’s really concerning …
83% of the errors were clinically significant.
Bottom line: There were an average of 5 clinically significant errors and 2.3 category 1 errors per encounter.
Why should YOU care?
Your medical record follows you. Incorrect or missing information can influence what future healthcare providers believe about you — potentially affecting the care you receive.
What can YOU do?
At your next appointment, ask: “Are you using AI to document my visit?”
If the answer is yes, say: “I’d prefer that you turn it off and take handwritten notes.”
Your doctor may not love the request. But it’s YOUR medical record.
And when it comes to your health,
You have every reason to care about and every right to know what gets written in it!
