Meet the Artist & Owner — Tierra aka Raven
Hi, I’m Tierra, aka “Raven,” the owner and lead artist of The Black Dahlia Tattoo Co. in New Haven, Missouri. 🖤
Becoming a tattoo artist and owning my own studio has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, so getting to finally say “this is my shop” is something I’m incredibly proud of. The Black Dahlia Tattoo Co. is woman-owned and operated by myself and my sister, and we’ve built it with the goal of creating a space where people can feel comfortable being themselves while getting artwork they’ll be proud to carry with them.
My artistic background goes far beyond tattooing. I have experience in graphic design, drawing, painting, photography, and marketing, all of which have played a huge role in developing my approach to tattooing and running a creative business. I love combining different artistic techniques and ideas to create pieces that feel personal, intentional, and uniquely yours.
As a tattoo artist, I specialize in handwriting, American Traditional, and custom illustrative pieces. I especially love taking an idea someone has in their head and turning it into something tangible and permanent. Whether you come to me with a fully formed concept, a collection of inspiration, or simply “I have an idea, but I don't know exactly what I want yet,” I love collaborating with you to create something that fits.
And if you know me, you know I LOVE flash sheets and events. So keep an eye out for flash drops, special events, themed designs, and other fun things happening around the shop. There’s always something new brewing behind the scenes. 👀🖤
One important disclaimer: I am, in fact, a photographer… and I am also absolutely terrible at remembering to photograph your tattoo when we’re finished. 😂 So please, please remind me! I promise I want to see your healed work just as much as you do—I just apparently need a little assistance remembering to document it.
At The Black Dahlia Tattoo Co., we believe getting tattooed should be more than just sitting in a chair and getting poked for a few hours. We want the experience to feel safe, sterile, clean, comfortable, welcoming, and fun from the moment you walk through the door. We take sanitation and safety seriously while also creating an environment where you can relax, ask questions, laugh, listen to music, talk—or simply enjoy some quiet time while you get your new piece.
Most importantly, I want my clients to feel heard and respected. Your tattoo is going on your body, and I believe the process should be collaborative. I’m happy to answer questions, talk through ideas, explain the process, and help you feel confident about your design before we ever pick up a tattoo machine.
Opening The Black Dahlia Tattoo Co. has been the culmination of years of creativity, hard work, learning, dreaming, and probably more than a little stubbornness. 😂 I’m incredibly grateful to be able to do what I love, alongside my sister, in a space we’ve created ourselves.
So whether you’re looking for your first tattoo, adding to a growing collection, hunting for some fun flash, or bringing me a completely wild idea to turn into artwork, I’d love to create something with you.
Welcome to The Black Dahlia Tattoo Co.
Come hang out, say hi if you see me around, get some art, and make yourself at home. 🖤🌹
