A heavy backpack during back-to-school tends to get all the attention, but it's usually only one part of the picture.
Posture is shaped by the habits a child repeats every day, so the hours spent sitting at a desk, at the kitchen table, and in front of a screen matter just as much as what they carry to school.
Here are three reminders that can help now that the routine is back in full swing:
◾ Adjust the backpack straps so the weight sits close to the body
◾ Bring screens closer to eye level instead of looking down at them
◾ Build in a short movement break during homework, then get back to it
A student who alternates between seated work and a brief movement reset will often feel better by the end of the night than one who never gets up. At Principled Living Tonal Chiropractic, our gentle, neurologically based care looks at how the whole system is functioning rather than only where it hurts, and that includes kids.
