LLHD in the Community | National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM)

Vaccines are one of the safest and most effective ways to protect yourself, your family, and your community from serious diseases. Staying up to date on recommended immunizations helps keep everyone healthy at every stage of life.

During National Immunization Awareness Month, LLHD encouraged residents to talk with their healthcare provider, review their vaccination records, and make sure they are current on recommended vaccines.

Access your immunization record for free through the Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT DPH) Immunization Program’s CT WiZ Public Portal! Go to: ct.gov/getmyvaccinerecord

Unfortunately there is another case of measles in CT. Please take a minute to check your family's vaccination status - you can find records of vaccinations by logging into CT Wiz at https://ctwizpublicportal.dph.ct.gov/
Vaccinations are the safe and effective way to control the spread and reduce the impact of potentially deadly viruses like measles. We know you want to make the best decisions possible for your family's health - please call us if you have questions or talk to your medical provider.

Connecticut has confirmed its third measles case of 2026. This case involves a Hartford County adult who developed symptoms after returning from international travel.

Nationwide, measles cases now exceeding 2,700 in 2026, the highest total since 1991. DPH urges residents to confirm their MMR vaccination status, especially ahead of international travel. The MMR vaccine is about 97% effective at preventing infection.
