We are so incredibly impressed & proud of the workshop our New Orleans therapists put together for the scholars of Winston Rhea. For those who don’t know, Winston Rhea is an incredible, local nonprofit that provides support for youth transitioning out of foster care through grants, community, and mentorship.

Through three different creative, therapeutic mediums, we were able to identify strengths developed from their pasts, teach mindfulness techniques for the present and utilize psychodramatic role playing to set goals for their futures.

Ellie New Orleans is reaching the community far beyond its office walls; reach out if you want to be a part of our movement!

Today our Ellie Therapists teamed up with Winston Rhea Scholars to provide a mental health workshop for their scholars. We focused on strengths, mindfulness & grounding techniques and role played goals for their future. A lot of parents are trying to manage work, childcare, routines disappearing overnight, and the pressure to make summer “fun” while already running on empty. Not everyone has had the space, safety, or language to fully understand themselves earlier in life. And not everyone feels certain right away. Identity exploration does not have an expiration date. You are allowed to question, learn, change, and understand yourself more deeply at any age. A lot of people want to be supportive during Pride Month but worry about saying the wrong thing. The truth is, allyship usually looks less like having the perfect language and more like showing respect in consistent, everyday ways. Correcting someone’s pronouns. Speaking up when a joke crosses a line. Making spaces feel safer instead of more exhausting to navigate. You do not have to know everything to show up better for people. Staying open, listening, and being willing to learn goes a long way.
