Earlier this month, 988 research team members Hannah and Mike headed to Atlanta to attend CrisisCon 2026! CrisisCon is a national convening of folks who represent all facets of the behavioral health crisis continuum and serves as a meeting place for them to connect, network, and learn how to better support community members in their state or organization.

In addition, they attended the 988 Network Preconference, which provided opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions, discuss best practices, and strengthen coordination across the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline network.

Overall, it was an excellent week of learning and relationship building for our team! And the emotional support dogs from Hope Animal-Assisted Crisis Response were an excellent and much-needed addition 😊

That’s a wrap on OURFest! 🌈

We had a great time connecting with the Philadelphia community, sharing resources, engaging in conversations, and providing information on su***de prevention. We spoke with over 100 people throughout the day and were grateful for every conversation, question, and connection.

Thank you to Philly Pride 365 for hosting, and to everyone who stopped by to chat with us and to support the mission of creating open, honest conversations around mental health and su***de prevention.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month.

Bullying can have lasting effects on a person’s mental health. Research shows that those who experience bullying are at greater risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors, while also experiencing anxiety, depression, feelings of powerlessness, and trauma.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard. Let’s take bullying seriously and create spaces where people know they’re not alone.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence can have a profound impact on mental health. Prolonged trauma, isolation, and coercive control can increase a survivor’s risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Survivors of domestic violence are 3x more likely to have suicidal thoughts and 4x more likely to attempt su***de.

Recognizing the connection between domestic violence and su***de is an important part of su***de prevention. Survivors deserve to be believed, supported, and connected to help.

Today marks the last day of Su***de Prevention Month, but su***de prevention doesn’t end when September does.
