Most water is bottled in soft plastics that leech high levels of the toxic chemicals into the water. These microplastics also leech into the water from hard plastic bottles. One chemical called bisphenol-A has been associated with reproductive abnormalities, Type 2 diabetes, and abnormal sexual behavior in animals. Another type of toxin found in these plastics is phthalates. Both of these chemicals
are known as endocrine disruptors and interfere with normal hormone balance.
A healthier approach is to filter your water at your tap or house and then use stainless steel bottles for carrying your water with you.
