This week, LCFA President Kim Norris joined researchers and patient advocates at the 2026 Lung SPORE Workshop.

The SPORE program, supported by the National Cancer Institute, is designed to accelerate translational research by bringing promising discoveries from the laboratory closer to patients.

The annual meeting creates opportunities for collaboration across disciplines, allowing researchers to share ideas, explore new concepts, and build partnerships that help move lung cancer research forward.

Equally important, patient advocates have a seat at the table. SPORE has long recognized the value of including the patient voice in these discussions to help ensure research remains connected to the real-world needs of those impacted by lung cancer.

We're especially proud that two LCFA Speakers Bureau members, Sydney Barned and Jane Perlmutter, participated in interviews during the meeting, helping bring the patient perspective into conversations shaping the future of lung cancer research.
