Balance.
We often picture balance as stillness, with everything level and even. Everything is steady. But balance is rarely still. Some days we’re up, some days we’re down. Work asks for more, and our rest has to wait for its turn. Family, or relationships need something from us, and something else begins to slips.
Even the seasons work this way. A few weeks ago, at the equinox, day and night sat in near-equal measure—for just a moment. Then the scale tipped. The light shifts and the evenings stretch, and we’re back to the act of rebalancing once again.
As we step into October, we’re asking ourselves:
What needs more of your weight right now?
What can you set down, even for a little while?
What might feel lighter if you stopped trying to keep everything perfectly level?
Balance isn’t a straight line. It’s the constant shifting, again and again, and the grace we give ourselves along the way. The trick is not to reach for it, but to find that still point in-between all the moments.
